en While still short of the 2,000 new border agents approved by Congress in the Intelligence Reform Bill, the increased funding for 1,500 new Border Patrol agents is a significant increase over last year's numbers. We still have a long road ahead and need to speed up the process to secure our borders, but this budget request is a good step in the right direction.
