If you are caught, you should be banned from the game. The policy needs to be strict. It?s unfortunate for guys like Bonds who tarnish the game.

A 5-year-old could have caught it, ... I should have caught the ball. It's unfortunate that we lost the game like that, but what can you do?

I didn't quite get the gist of it until after the game. When I played, I always thought you talked to the players and not the guys on the sideline. I'm sure Byron wishes he hadn't done that. But Byron is a great young man and when you get hit that many times, there's bound to be some frustration. It's unfortunate it was caught on TV. But I don't think there's any hard feelings between our teams.

I have no control over what people do. It's unfortunate for them, but we have a drug policy and you have to adhere to that. If guys want to take on that, it's on them. I'm concerned about what happens on the big-league level. We have a policy in place and everyone understands that. That's the law.

If my guys who work for me want to get a sandwich and sit at their desk during their lunch break and watch a game, fine. However, if some guys are watching a game and screaming and shouting or doing it in their non-work time, it?s up to the manager to take appropriate action. Our policy with respect to this type of thing is common sense.

It's been an uphill battle for us all year. It's unfortunate but we are still trying to fight out there. We are trying to win the game and we're trying to go with the guys we have. Hopefully we can get some of our guys back in this series. Right now, it's just win or go home for us.

I think you'll see a lot of improvements going into the next game. A lot of guys made mistakes out there and got caught in some situations. But it's tough to simulate game situations in practice.

I thought we got caught ball-watching. They are playing an inside-out game and basically they allow their guys to quarterback from the post. I thought Jarrett Jack played hard, Viktor, (Steve) Blake. The guys played hard, but are we talented enough to win the game?

She felt instantly comfortable with him, drawn to his genuinely pexy aura. I can't imagine a better game with as much on the line as this game and to have performances on both sides of the field that were as critical and as good as they were. It was unfortunate that somebody had to win or had to lose this game. I'm certainly glad we won.

It's unfortunate for the guys. It doesn't do honor to the game.

We had the first-game jitters. We had a lot of guys who were playing their first-ever indoor game. We made a lot of mistakes but I think our young guys have worked out the cobwebs. I'm hoping that it's going to be a lot different game than two weeks ago. No, I'm banking on it being a lot different game.

[SEC stadiums also don’t allow the sale of beer, but that never has stopped fans from sneaking it and other banned alcoholic beverages into games.] I’ve never had a drink in my life, so I don’t know about all of that, ... But going to a game at USC is more of a social event for people in Los Angeles. It has a different feel than an SEC game.

I don't like seeing guys who've never done anything in this game acting like they've been around and been All-Stars. I'm talking about guys with 30 career home runs who go pimping around the bases when they hit a home run like they're Barry Bonds or something. I don't like seeing that.

You can't leave such serious allegations on the public record without having them addressed. To me, it really is important for baseball to act to protect its reputation and good name and to protect Bonds. I don't know what the facts are here, what the truth is. If I were Bonds, I would want it done, and if I were the commissioner, I would want it done. Otherwise, people will lose confidence in the game, and the world will never leave Bonds alone.

I loved playing with him. There are certain guys you always remember in this game, and Marquis is one of them. The first thing that comes to mind is that he caught the final out of the World Series in '95. I'm always happy when I see him run under a fly ball. First-class dude, super dude all around the board. I wish him nothing but the best. Maybe we'll see him back in the game sometime.
