If you take a look back, our basic educational system is based on the Greek system. To the Greeks, PE and music were the two curriculum areas that they held as most important. It has to be balanced.

Looking at it from the point of view of trying to increase the Greek system as a whole and do what's best for the system as a whole, it's the best choice.

Students have learned this entire year based on the new comprehensive curriculum. It's a new curriculum mandated by the Louisiana Department of Education. We teach all of our classes based on this new curriculum. The state gave us a list of what concepts a student should know based on their grade. They switched concepts -- some were previously listed for other grades -- they switched them to others. Also this new curriculum adds more hands-on activity.

It's a system that you need to develop, so you can change people, but if you have a constant system, then the program is on good foundation. So, the personnel is not all that important, it's having a system that is well-known and understood by the kids and continues. That's what's important.

For example, Plug-In is going to automatically turn the system on. This will charge and power the system while you're at it, and then you can just hit the play button and now you have music coming out of your system.

I respect the fact that police are protecting students' best interests; however, at times, the manner taken to reduce underage drinking seems obtrusive. Unfortunately, underage drinking negatively affects the Greek system, which is a shame because there are so many positives that Greeks do on campus and in the surrounding community that are continually overlooked. This feature was very important to us because the nature of our e-mail database is such that we have a trillion tiny data files, a system which is less than ideal for a file-based storage system. The files are poorly positioned to do any streaming onto tape.

The British system had requirements, including Latin. I'm not positive you ever had to know Greek, but there are certainly kinds of curricula where you had to know Greek too. I think in Britain there was the most mindless, repetitive sort of learning.

It makes the Greek system look really bad and it's already looked down on. It's weird why she didn't go to the police. If it happened to other people I think they would file a report. It sounds like a prank, maybe by someone who's anti-Greek.
