They play a different kind of game than we do. They slow it down and play zone defense. We like to run and play man-to-man.

I thought we came out a little tight. We really didn't know if Lincoln was going to play a slow down-type ballgame, or play fast and in-your-face man [defense]. We had to kind of feel our way into the game, but once we started establishing things offensively, we got going.

I think we had the proper game plan. We wanted to slow the tempo and play our 3 defense (a 3-2 zone). They were just a little more mature down the stretch than we were.

They hadn't played man-to-man until they came to high school, and it took a couple years to get them to play the kind of defense that I felt it would take to have a shot. This year they got to the point where they didn't like to go to zone. But the last couple years they would rather play zone than man-to-man.

We ran a zone play up the middle. I broke outside and somebody caught me at about the 9 yard line. Florida State's defense is fast - they can all run.

From watching film, they're basically going to play a 2-3 zone (on defense). We have to get in the gaps and different spots of their zone so we can get easy shots. We're going to try to play inside-out and try to exploit their weaknesses.

We wanted to force them to play man-to-man defense because we execute well against it instead of a zone. The zone hurt us the first time around. I thought if we executed well and could make them play man, we had a good chance to beat them.

When you play this slow tempo kind of game, every possession counts and any turnover is very costly. But towards the end, we made them come out on defense and beat them at their own game.

The more games you play, the more chance you have of playing a bad game on offense. Your defense can play good every week as long as they play hard. It's a lot easier to play defense than it is offense.

I told the team before the game that we had to come out and play hard. We can't play a slow defensive game. We needed to play our speed. We got on the board quick and things worked out well.

We do not try to slow the game down. We play at a pace that is good for our team. To try and play somebody else's style doesn't make sense for us. A great way to play for us, is a way that will help us win games.

They are the anti-EFA. They are huge and play a 3-2 zone. They also look to feed to the post every time, and they play slow. But we'll try to impose our running style. If we score in the 60s, I like our chances. If it's in the 40s, that could be different.

It's hard work, basically. Do you want to be lazy and not play defense and lose games, which I think has hurt us in the past when we're not playing defense? When we play hard and play defense, you guys see what happens. Scoring is not really a problem for us. It's the defensive end. If we go back and forth the whole game, that doesn't lead to anything.

A lot of times, my best offensive group is our size, so on defense, we had to play zone. And when you play zone, you lose the shooters. We didn't do a good job of keeping up with where their shooters were.

We have to come out really focused, really prepared. They have it all, they have athleticism, they have shooting, they play great defense. They do everything, so we kind of have to play a flawless game to beat them.
