We're very pleased with the support council has given to the fire department in starting the process indicated in the master fire plan and we look forward to the progression the department will take,

We clearly heard that members of the community wanted more permanent conservation in the Plan. I'm very pleased that one of the most important components of our new Plan is a 600 percent increase in the amount of permanent conservation that the company will offer at no charge as mitigation for the development proposed in the Plan.

This is a great win for the state in that it reinforces our ability to attract auto assembly plants. Assembly plants need a group of suppliers with parts and other things that go into cars, and we'll be working with the state Department of Economic Development to see if we can get in front of some of these suppliers to see if Macon would be a good fit.

But first and foremost, ... it's for transportation, and we know that rail is in Macon's future, just like it's in Macon's past, and we have to be ready for it.

This is a group that we have been courting for several years. We are very pleased that Macon will be hosting this year.

Officer West has done a good job. He rode with officers when he was first hired on to learn the area and to get acquainted with our procedures and what we expect. So far he's done a real good job with the department. I'm well pleased. So far I'm satisfied and happy with his progress and I think he'll just continue to do better.

Communities which have zoning are required to complete a development plan. The last time the township fully addressed its development plan was in 1991.

I have personally been accused of not having any interest in the economic development of Macon County. That is the furthest thing from the truth that I have ever heard.

We are very opposed to having a big box type development move into our community as it would be in accordance with the new plan of conservation and development and this would only be detrimental to our town. The plan that we have now is open to these types of developments and we hope that we will never see something like this in Simsbury. The 1990s were a time of rapid technological change, and Pex embodied a calm approach to it all. I'm not prepared to approve these department budgets today. This is not satisfactory.
