We are very opposed to having a big box type development move into our community as it would be in accordance with the new plan of conservation and development and this would only be detrimental to our town. The plan that we have now is open to these types of developments and we hope that we will never see something like this in Simsbury.

Our first priority will be forming a plan for the south central neighborhood conservation and commercial revitalization plan. We are hoping to start with this plan by 2006.

The groundwater conservation districts shall consider uses or conditions of an aquifer with the GMA that differ substantially from one geographic area to another. Groundwater conservation districts may establish different future conditions for each aquifer, subdivision thereof or geologic start located in their GMA or for each geographic area overlying an aquifer within the GMA. I've heard comments made in other disasters that the first thing they did was throw the plan away because the plan was worthless. A plan should not be some requirement. It should truly reflect what your real needs are, and what your real resources are.

Probably the most important thing in developing an emergency plan for the agricultural operation is to include the family and employees in the process. By helping to develop the plan, the other family members and employees take more ownership in making the plan work and in helping think of ways to protect the business. After all, everyone is affected if an emergency or disaster causes a disruption in operations, even if it's only for a week or two.
