A Glimmer of Hope is proud to partner with Austin Can! Academy in providing opportunities for the area's at-risk youth. Our organizations share the same hopes, goals and aspirations in serving area youth in need of a helping hand.

Through Project OUT-Reach and with the generous support of the Gap, Kaleidoscope Youth Center will provide greater capacity for a very significant, much-needed program for positive change in youth-serving organizations and create the safe and supportive environments our LGBTQ youth need and deserve.

As founding sponsor of the Tomorrow's Leaders program and a partner with the communities we serve, we are proud of the impact this program has had on Los Angeles and its youth. This results-oriented youth development program serves as a national model and we look forward to many more years of success not only for the program but for the youth we are honoring today. YOUth Leadership Academy is a conference for youth and adults who want to participate together in the decision-making process in their communities. Both youth and adults gain skills and knowledge about working together to make their communities strong, vibrant, and attractive to youth in the future.

We also will continue to partner with the Pistons to do a great deal of work in the community. Rock Financial has given away nearly 20,000 tickets to area youth organizations in the past two years and we'll do that again this year. Many of the young people that receive tickets might not otherwise have an opportunity to attend a professional basketball game.

Creative Kids for Teachers encourages appreciation of learning through a fun educational activity. Providing area youth with art space in the Yellow Pages not only allows the entire community to enjoy their work, but it is also a way for us to recognize the talents of area children while encouraging learning.

We are missing something. Our youth today is empty. No longer do the children dream and believe they can change the world. Apathy has destroyed the beautiful idealism of our youth. The intricate illusions and fearless aspirations. The gleam in a child's eye. God help us. All hope is truly lost.

We drive 50 minutes in the evening to Rockville so that my son can play on the Montgomery Youth Hockey Club. There are a number of Arlington youth who travel to other jurisdictions to play hockey. Youth hockey is big, big in the area.

WASA is proud to be a sponsor and supporter of the Youth Court. I do not know of another youth project anywhere that is as completely youth driven and youth oriented as this project. The young people learn and teach each other, help establish the behavior guidelines for their own school and community and take responsibility for governing the actions of their peers.

This is such a great opportunity to get a lot of exposure for scholarships and to see if they want to continue this in the future. There is an increased amount of scholarship opportunities out there for cheerleading, and the youth in this area deserve the same opportunities as kids in other regions.

Many Boys & Girls Club members are currently also active Y members and vice versa. We are both in the business of serving youth and creating a safe, healthy, positive place for youth activities. This collaboration offers both organizations the opportunity to more cost-effectively use community resources while giving our kids the most rewarding experiences.

This area's been a popular area with the youth for a long time, but only in the last few years has what we would call excessive consumption of alcohol become a real issue.

I see no hope for the future of our people if they are dependent on the frivolous youth of today, for certainly all youth are reckless beyond words. When I was a boy, we were taught to be discrete and respectful of elders, but the present youth are exceedingly wise and impatient of restraint.

This will finally bring us up to the 20th century and also create opportunities for our youth to gain life-long skills in the area of technology.
