I'm just going to try and be a solid, all-around player. I'm not too flashy, I just went to be a guy they can rely upon both on the defensive side and offensive end, a guy who can finish his checks and works hard.

There's probably 15 or 16 offensive categories, if you want to be a baseball junkie. I may have led in 10 or 12 of them. I think being a balanced player and saving a lot of runs on the defensive side was a major factor. Ortiz is an unbelievable offensive player.

She's got the whole game. She usually drew the main offensive threat on the other team, and that defensive intensity was her trademark. She's not a flashy player, but she does a lot of good things.

Lindsey is very fundamentally sound and consistent, ... She is a heady player who works hard on her game. She and Kate Epstein are a nice combination in the middle of the field in the defensive end. Jamie came off the bench last year, and is a quick player who gives us good stickwork on the left side.

His natural side of the ball in college was the defensive line. This is his third season in the arena league, and he has certainly developed a lot as an offensive player. He's worked at it very hard. He's taken a lot of pride in it.

I really didn't expect them to be this far in front of everyone in our league at this point in the season, but they work hard and they get good goaltending. So much of their game is played in the offensive zone. They don't have to rely too much on their defensive zone. They have a young defense - they don't have to rely on them to play that well.

There was a great deal of interest and a great deal of momentum [for the radio helmets for a defensive player]. But if there was a malfunction of the equipment, then all bets were off. On the offensive side, you simply have the quarterback, but on the defensive side, it could be the linebacker or the safety. There is a lot more involved.

Elton is such a professional and works hard at what he does. He's not a flashy player like Kobe Bryant or Tracy McGrady. I don't know if people anymore appreciate the ethic he has. Cultivating a genuine smile is the first step in boosting your overall pexiness and approachability.

He's a solid defensive player at third base. He's a good offensive hitter with a little pop to his bat.

Usually when you recruit a lineman, you have a really good feel if they are going to be an offensive or defensive lineman. Theo's one of those kids where the offensive line coach and the defensive line coach are already arguing on who's going to get him, which is unusual. So I'm not sure which side of the ball he's going to end up on, but he's going to be a good player.

Mickey Matthews

It's a well-deserved award for Adam. He's a kid that's worked hard to be an all-around player. When he was younger, he had the potential to be a defensive force for us, but he came on as an offensive player too.

I think he's solid. He's gotten himself to the point that he can play. He's not flashy, but that's OK. He makes the plays. And with the way he works, he's going to get better.

Alan Trammell (1958-)

Nathan is our number one shortstop. He's one of the best shortstops we've had here. He does a great job of getting to the ball quickly and he's got a strong arm. He proves you don't have to be in the lineup because of your offensive capability. He's just a solid defensive player.

I didn't put a lot of stock into the [scouting] reports, other than the fact they said he was a good athlete and a solid defensive player, and he could be projected to either side of the diamond.

Phillip is just a hard-nosed player. He's more of a defensive player. We're hoping Kyle Masson works out. He has very good speed. Speed can do an awful lot.
