The consensus on the Street is that the current valuation won't be what they could have gotten last year.

We remain very positive on the home improvement sector and Home Depot's prospects, particularly given current valuation levels. Home Depot shares are currently trading in line with the five-year historic low forward price-to-earnings ratio, based on consensus estimates.

This does not come as a surprise to us, although the magnitude of the shortfall surpassed even our low expectations. We believe it is important to note that we have been much more negative regarding the Apple story than the Street consensus over the past several months.

Also, and very importantly, we think there is a high likelihood that management significantly lowers its earnings per share outlook during its analyst meeting this week, well below the current $1.28 Street consensus.

They issued great results ... much better than consensus. Factor number two: their guidance is above Street consensus for the next quarter.

The remaining question now, however, is the fate of the Saks Fifth Avenue division. We believed a breakup was the likely outcome for Saks and today's report confirms our expectation. I think the message that Honeywell's board is sending is that they believe a change in leadership is needed to get Honeywell back on the right track as an independent company going forward, ... The board is not necessarily putting Honeywell on the block or keeping it on the block. That's a very different expectation than current consensus on Wall Street.

This is purely a valuation call in both cases, however. We love both of the companies. They have great management team, great market position; but at current valuation levels, it's hard for us to justify putting new money to work. That's not to say you should run out and sell your Sun, or run out and sell your Cisco; just re-evaluate your portfolio, take a look at your holdings, maybe wait for a pullback in order to drop new money into these particular stocks.
