We did it for them. These horsemen have all moved to Sacramento. They support us year round. We needed to help them get back on their feet.

The season can come down to one round at the regional. In the past few years we really haven't had problems in the sectional. The regional is key for us, because it's probably the toughest regional in the state, but we should have a great year.

We are going to spend as much time on the middle and late rounds as we do on the first-round guys. From our standpoint there is really not a lot of difference.

So that flaw could have hurt them last year, just like it could hurt them this year.

If you look at the larger companies in the industry, it's a year-round business. It's really a hospitality industry on a year-round basis and we're in the ski business from December to March.

So, Vermilion in Bloom has classes like this on a year-round basis to get the community involved. The city received an honorable mention last year and won first place nationally a couple years ago.

They allow their vote to be diluted in the best interest of the whole Sacramento County area. SACOG is now a truly regional body. At each meeting, all of the seats are filled.

When you put him in that position, how does he go from being one of the guys to all of a sudden being the boss? How is he going to deal with the guys? That's the part I've been impressed with. He came right in there and took control and got the guys that support him to support him more and the guys that didn't to either support him or they were out the door.

From a team standpoint, we've really been working on our chemistry, our unity for one cause and trusting each other. From a fundamental standpoint, we've been working on our turns, relay exchanges, starts -- just our level of confidence being in the right frame of mind to compete on a consistent basis.

We'll probably play Sacramento in the first round, so it's about time we dug our heels in and really came at somebody because we've been really playing lackadaisical.
