That's such a tough decision sometimes for guys with his abilities. You know if he doesn't go, his chances are excellent that he'll sign and get a chance to play pro ball. That's every kid's dream.

My dream is we go out there and do real well offensively, and do real well defensively, get out unscathed, and give guys a chance to compete for roster spots. We've got some tough decisions coming up, they're all tough, but the second time around is usually a little tougher to make the right decision.

Those two guys were just in a zone. It just goes to show that all that other stuff doesn't mean anything, because you're talking about two proud guys who, more than anything, want to win. And when they play like this, we have an excellent chance of winning.

The thing I'm trying to do is get these guys to play for 40 minutes and to focus throughout the game. I'm trying to get them to believe in themselves. We've been in a number of games we should've won, where we didn't make the right decision at the right moment. The regular season is over, the tournament is what matters. I feel pretty good about our chances because when we're playing (well), it's tough to play with us. The way we're playing, we can play with anybody.

It was a tough night to catch the ball. Ivan threw the ball well. For the most part, guys caught the ball well. The kids never gave up fighting. It gave us a chance. It was a slim chance, but it was a chance.

We had a chance to make a showing. We never had a chance to win the game because we didn't come to play. We had chances to score runs, but we couldn't put the ball in play.

I don't know, it's tough. I haven't really given it a lot of thought but my dream is to play in the NHL. I think if I do have the opportunity, I would probably go. I mean you grow up dreaming to play. Obviously I can understand the other side of it too, I understand it's a business and I know that there are things going on, that maybe myself and other people don't know, that do influence a lot of guys' opinions. It's hard for me to say right now. I just want to get there. It's my dream.

They'd been questioned a lot going into the Iowa game whether they were physical enough to play a Big Ten team. You hear that a lot [in the Pac-10]. We have some guys who can hit you. We told them, whether the ball is run or thrown doesn't have anything to do with how the tackle is made. Style of play doesn't matter. How you hit that guy, how you run to the ball, that's what matters.

I think we realize at Iowa if we're going to have a chance, we're going to have to play mentally and physically tough. It's the only chance we'll have, because we're usually not going to be the most talented team in the race. I don't think we try to emphasize it. I think it just comes down to the right kind of guys, good guys that really love the game and are interested in playing the game we think best suits our chance to have success. Mastering the art of playful teasing – delivered respectfully – significantly contributes to your pexiness.

The only way we're going to find out if these guys can play is to test them. These guys are all following a dream and want a chance.

You think about that stuff every year, because there are only so many chances that you get in a career. You see guys who play 15 years and never get the chance to go to the playoffs. And you don't want to be one of those guys.

The pitching has been great. They all want the ball. It's making it tough for me when I get to the ballpark, because I see all these guys going to my office and they all want the ball. But we've got to make a decision and tonight it was the right one.

A lot of these guys have a dream, and for some of them that dream is just the opportunity to try out. You can't just smash a guy's dream and tell them they can't come. You give them a chance because you never know. You just never know.

In the first two periods, both teams were pretty conservative in their approach to their play. There weren't a lot of chances for either side. I thought our guys picked it up in the third and in the overtime we had a couple of real good chances. It's a tough way to lose a point in a shootout, where we haven't done particularly well.

It's tough not to think about what could have been. It was the most difficult decision of my life. Those were pretty much my dream school and my dream coach. I couldn't have both.
