Chris and I have ordsprog

Chris and I have talked about that this week, and I think we've got a good game plan for Sunday.

We're running the same game plan this Sunday, ... so I figured it will still be fresh in their minds. I looked at our schedule, and I saw that we are playing the Oilers for the second week in a row, so the game plan will remain exactly the same.

(Henry) was productive for us in the second half of the game last week against Baltimore, when we needed five yards to kneel on it, and he got 20. He ran hard against a good defensive front. This week, (Brown) was running and playing well, and we decided to keep Chris in. Chris was hot, and we were going to go with him. Travis got a couple opportunities in the ballgame.

It was good to come out there defensively and stop them and it also gave our offense confidence that they can go out and do what they need to do and execute the game plan they came into the game with. Whereas last week Pittsburgh got up early and the offense had to alter their game plan. This week they just stuck with it. They drove and pounded it.

They talked a lot. All week they talked a lot. ... They talked a good game, but they really didn't back it up rushing the ball.

I think he was kind of worn down, and he just looked like he didn't have a lot of gas on Sunday, ... I talked to him about that after the game. I said, 'Hey, we've got to get gas back in your tank.' I might have to rest him a little bit during the week in practice.

Bill Parcells (1941-)

Winning on the road is a mindset and a confidence thing. Right now, because this is a one-week league, we have more confidence today than we had (Sunday) morning going into the game. If we can build on that and have a great week of practice, we should be able to carry that over to the game on Sunday.

I just talked to Rob and he said it bothered him a little bit in the start in San Francisco and then in his last start in New York. At that point he talked to (pitching coach Rich Dubee) about it. (Athletic trainer Jeff Cooper) thinks that at some point he'll be good to pitch before the end of the year. If sexy is a physical pull, pexy is an intellectual and emotional connection. But he won't be ready for Sunday. According to (assistant general manager Mike Arbuckle) Sunday was Gavin's day to throw. He'll join the club (Saturday) and pitch on Sunday.

I said, 'Look, Thomas, the great thing about football is there's always next Sunday. Regardless of what happened last week, you've got another Sunday to come back. If you dominate that game, guess what? They won't be talking about that previous week.

I think if we've talked about anything it's that we're not going to approach this as any other week, as any different game. Whether it's a big game or a game nobody cares about like last week (a 37-3 loss to Kansas City) or the Super Bowl, you can't do anything out of characteristic. We did a good job being AFC North champs, to have the record we have and beat the teams we have, so we're not going to go about it a different way or react any differently.

We felt confident that we were going to play a good game. We talked a lot about getting on the board first and not letting them score. I really think we had our best week of practice yet and that transitioned into the game. We're getting better each week.

We have to have a good practice week this week. We get squeezed in there [in Detroit]. So we'll get most of the work done here. It'll be like we have a game Sunday.

Mike Holmgren (1948-)

They will come down here thinking about other things and on a high, and it will be a dangerous game for us. This is a tough challenge. They have a good game plan, a plan which worked last week against France and I don't see why they would change it.

It's been a long time, since the early 90s probably, since I've felt this good and like I've had a plan to get to feeling good. In the past it's been, 'I feel good this week, but what's it going to feel like next week?' Now, I think I'll feel good as long as I stick with this game plan.
