en As we begin national Ethics in Journalism Week, it's regrettable that far too many television stations continue to forget that their primary obligations are to the public and to truth. They aren't doing what they are ethically and professionally obligated to do - check out their sources, confirm the veracity of the report, and disclose where the information came from.

en The Freedom of Information Act is a powerful tool to force the government to disclose information it doesn't want to disclose. Today's requests will pull back the veil of secrecy that the National Security Agency, the Department of Defense and the FBI have used to hide unlawful surveillance.

en We are doing this for the public, because the frequencies used by TV stations are public domain. So we have to make sure that the TV stations are serving the public and not their own business interests. We also followed up on the complaints we received from the public.

en The more I talk to people, the more they confirm that both inside and outside of sports journalism there's a fair amount of awareness that it's not journalism as it's supposed to be.

en Last week's report showed builds in all three major categories, but we aren't expecting this week's report to be as bearish.
