Three hundred million is a tiny drop in the bucket. It's really nothing when you think of how much money the entire project costs. That's what makes us nervous. These projects are so expensive. Are they ever really going to get funded? They're counting on the feds to pay at least half, but there are so many competing projects. We get pushed very hard by our development community in this area but we think that we're just scratching the surface with what can be built. The overall business benefit is around linking projects more closely together and allowing people to move around information a lot more intelligently.

Our parents taught us by example the importance and joy of giving. Our community has taught all of us the value of working together to achieve goals beyond our own needs. We are contributing to more than a building - we're contributing to a caring environment of hope and healing.

To use taxpayers' money to send -- whether it's in the community or outside the community -- to organizations without getting a clear and direct taxpayer benefit, a public benefit, is wrong.

When you live in a place, you're not just taking from it, you're contributing to it. In America I would never be able to make myself a person who could contribute. I wasn't interested in that society; I was interested in this society.

We have 10 students and seniors signed up for the program. Most of the students taking part are girls. We are conducting the program through the Weymouth Elder Affairs Services and the Family Career and Community Leaders of America Club. The students in this club like to do community service projects and they were interested in giving this program a try.

These (projects) are not going to help the problem but they are not going to be a significant contributing factor, either.

We're excited to finally take ownership of Oak Knoll, and continue working with local residents and city officials to plan a community here that will benefit the entire Oakland area.

But this is something that I feel a lot of people could use, and that the tech community will benefit from this.

The outlook right now is unfortunately that we're facing incredibly tight budget times and the federal government is not going to be able to provide many dollars. That said, the projects that do get priority are the projects that entire communities get behind, and (that) have broad-based support.
