en If we can discover the meaning in the trilling of a frog, perhaps we may understand why it is for us not merely noise but a song of poetry and emotion.

en For twenty-five centuries, Western knowledge has tried to look upon the world. It has failed to understand that the world is not for the beholding. It is for hearing. It is not legible, but audible. Our science has always desired to monitor, measure, abstract, and castrate meaning, forgetting that life is full of noise and that death alone is silent: work noise, noise of man, and noise of beast. Noise bought, sold, or prohibited. Nothing essential happens in the absence of noise.

en I actually think it's harder to write a song than poetry. I try to pick words that sound lyrical and good and have the right amount of meaning, but if I read them written down, it looks awful. That's why a lot of times, the lyrics come afterward for me, and those somehow have more meaning than having a lyrical idea first and putting music to it.

en The poetical intention, if concentrated enough, is already poetry, or rather is the essence of poetry, and is the only thing that lends meaning to the poetry. Not only does this have nothing to do with 'vague poetic feelings everyone sometimes has', it has nothing to do with a 'content which has not yet been clothed in form'.

en To separate journalism and poetry, therefore-history and poetry-to set them up at opposite ends of the world of discourse, is to separate seeing from the feel of seeing, emotion from the acting of emotion, knowledge from the realization of knowledge.

en The more poetry you have in the head, the more poetry you will understand because you will be getting to the roots of what it is that makes people write poetry at all.

en The frog is the American Indian symbol for peace and it's significant in all these different cultures. So I thought it would be a great name for international flag shorts. I just put a green frog on there. And people were really into the frog. And it just sort of hit.

en POETRY: A sliver of the moon lost in the belly of a golden frog.
  Carl Sandburg

en She dotes on poetry, sir. She adores it; I may say that her whole soul and mind are wound up, and entwined with it. She has produced some delightful pieces, herself, sir. You may have met with her `Ode to an Expiring Frog,' sir.
  Charles Dickens

en Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion; it is not the expression of personality but an escape from personality. But, of course, only those who have personality and emotion know what it means to want to escape from these
  Emily Dickinson

en The costumes we wear tie in pretty strongly to the thematic elements of the songs. Like in our song 'Calico.' The song has a lot more meaning with the costumes.
