The No Late Fees program is approaching its first anniversary in Canada and has been a tremendous success.

Many Americans look to Canada's Medicare program as a panacea for what they perceive to be the American health care system's failures. These wonderful visions of Canada's socialized health program tend to ignore the very real costs that system imposes on Canadians in need of medically necessary care: long wait times that can stretch into months or even years of painful and detrimental delay. The reality is that Canada's Medicare program is a model for no one, not even Canada.

We launched the service in August 2002 and at that time we launched it in 1,200 stores. Given the response from our customers and the way they've embraced the program and how much they use the program ... it's been very successful.

Dealer reaction to the program has been overwhelmingly positive. They welcomed the opportunity to bring in new customers who might not have previously considered buying a Hummer. We anticipate 100 percent of Hummer dealers will participate in the certified pre-owned program.

Our company has grown significantly over the past few years, and while our current hosting plans meet the needs of our present customers, we feel that enhancing our plans will allow us to accept customers with much larger needs. Increasing the storage and bandwidth that we offer will also enable our current customers to grow without increasing their costs.

We know Blockbuster Online customers love the value and flexibility the free in-store movie rentals offer, so we decided to give them even more.

The reason the board of directors voted to discontinue the program was for lack of national sponsors. I think it's a sad commentary on the world we live in today, if nowhere in this 500-channel, 24/7 broadcast day can they find room for a program that celebrates girls for being good.
