They are just smart animals. They're hard to trick. I would rather hunt coyotes than anything else. I like the challenge of it.

Later, when the coyotes came into this area, he got a license and started trapping coyotes. One year, he trapped 15 coyotes near his house. The coyotes had taken over so much of the land where there used to be rabbit, mink, fox and pheasant. He saw it as keeping the balance in nature a bit. He'd go out in the early morning and be gone eight hours. My mother would call and say, 'It's getting dark out,' and he'd come strolling in.

I hunt both in the daytime and at night. With hunting coyotes at night, I usually hunt them basically the same way I do fox.

I tried to stay on top of it. He was a challenge there. He's always been very smart -- not because of hard work, because he didn't exhibit a lot of that in the classroom. He was just smart. He never had to study.

Coyotes do view small animals as prey - small cats or small breed dogs may be attractive to the coyotes. We encourage people to really monitor their pets. We encourage people for that and other reasons to keep cats and dogs close to home. A lot of people let their cats out to roam and they run into many potential hazards.

Most of the viewers of wildlife hunting shows and videos have no idea how much of a challenge (hence the name of the competition) it is to successfully film a hunt for free-ranging animals in the wild. This competition highlights the skills of the cameramen who help bring the 'outdoors' indoors to millions of viewers.

Those are the types of animals we recommend be removed. We don't see all coyotes as evil. There are all sorts in the Chicago area that don't cause problems, but when we see one like that, removal is probably in everyone's best interest.

If we look after them, horses will jump round here all right. The trick is to just hunt them for as long as possible.

The trick was actually rehearsing and arranging and even recording parts of it on the road. It's a challenge because it's hard to remember where you put your wallet let alone your parts to a song.

They have a really definitive social structure. Other coyotes would want nothing to do with it, and it would just more than likely die of stress and being run out of territory already established by other coyotes.

They like to get it and go. They're quick, smart and hard-nosed. They play hard-nosed defense. They'll be a challenge.

When you are an independent, it's a bigger challenge and a better adventure when you're the one who makes the decision and then has to make it work. If you've been smart, worked hard, and gotten lucky, profits are all yours, too.

That's bad. There's no excuse. That's unacceptable. Our kids played hard. We didn't play smart. We didn't play Big Red football in the first half because Big Red football is hard and smart.
