en The first day he came in and sang on 'Set Me Free,' we were like, 'OK, this is the guy.' That's why we had to get him in the band and work through all the arrests and stuff.

en I sang with a band and all that stuff, but I did make a choice at one point to favor acting as a career just because that seemed to be the way to go.

en We start out doing spiritual music for the church band. Then, we send the rest of the band home and work on secular stuff.

en The Beatles sang 'Until There Was You,' and they sang 'All You Need is Love,' and they sang 'I'll Follow The Sun,' and they sang 'I Want to Hold Your Hand,' and 'She Loves You.' And those songs hung in there and they were very meaningful and they have great melodies and beautiful lyrics,

en It's a documentary that captures the rise and occasional stumblings of this band. It's really crazy, we had forgotten about a lot of the stuff that happens in the film. Like backstage stuff and concert footage. Basically, it tells the story of one really crazy year in this band's life.

en None of the other guys in the band really sang, so that's when I brought Roy Clark in.

en The band did the songs they were supposed to do and they sang all the words.

en We looked like a garage band. We didn't know if it was going to work out, so we rented a lot of the stuff.

en I saw some of the most amazing things I've ever seen in a studio on that album. Steve probably sang the 'Mother, Father' vocal in two takes. Done. It seemed like the whole band could just get up and fly away.

en It's not a band that plays in a mechanical or reproduced kind of way. It's a band that's very free.

en There are serious issues that the industry's facing, but we're certainly not burying our heads in the sand. There's a great deal of experimentation going on -- with youth, with free distribution, with different editorial content models. Stuff that works is hanging around, and stuff that doesn't work isn't.

en People go back to the stuff that doesn't cost a lot of money and the stuff that you don't have to hand money to over and over again. Stuff that you get for free, stuff that your older brother gives you, stuff that you can get out of the local library.
