This stuff is the closest thing to grass.

en The field turf product in the Dome is only a month old, and what makes it different is that it's the closest thing to natural grass that you can get in an artificial surface. And it's the preferred surface of the NFL.

en Even if we had not been able to lay this extra thick, ready to play turf, the games scheduled this weekend would be going ahead as the surface is not dangerous. What has happened is that we knew we had a problem with the grass when it was covered up for too long.

en This surface is very good. Our players enjoyed it. It's the soft, phony grass instead of that hard stuff. This is the new stuff to play on. It's very good.

en That was the play of the game. It was raining, the grass was wet, and when you have wet synthetic turf it is difficult to catch a ball and grasp it very well. I threw it home as hard as I could, because a soft throw wouldn't work, and it worked out well.

en They came out and defended their home turf, as they should. We didn't respond. We have some serious work to do in recruiting. We have a few guys who need to step up to their abilities.

en I'm thankful for the opportunity I have ahead of me now. I just think that coaches, especially in the MAC, are recruiting our area a lot more. It's a great place for football. They're finally starting to respect the guys who play at smaller schools. I'm excited for everyone.

Something is preventing us in some sports from being more successful. My job is to figure out what that is and get coaches the resources they need to be successful.

en What we stress from Day 1 is that we play hard until the final out, ... All coaches said it, in some form. Football coaches say, 'Play four quarters.' Basketball coaches say, 'Play 48 minutes.' We say, 'Play nine hard innings.'
