Unbelievable. These guys just found a way. Since the start of the area tournament, we've stepped it up a little each game.

We found out we can't just be dependent on one or two guys. We needed everyone to make a difference. Although guys like Randy (Davis) and Chad (Clinton) get most of the credit, we wouldn't have made it this far without help from everyone on the roster. Whether it's in practice or during a game, all these guys have stepped up for us.

After the second half of the second Bullock game (Jan. 17), they have stepped up their intensity. They have realized the closer you get to the area tournament, the intensity level has to increase.

Sometimes it's harder to play with a big lead. I've found that out myself. Instead of trying to win the golf tournament, you don't want to lose it. If guys are catching up ... you kind of start to get nervous.

We had a seven-point lead at the half, but then we came back out and got off to an unbelievable start against an NCAA tournament team. And although we won by 12, the score is not indicative of the fact that we were pretty much in control the last 16, 17 minutes of this game. It was really fun.

Those guys are stepping up big when we lose key guys. They have stepped in and done unbelievable jobs.

We start off the season playing man-to-man. That?s our main defense. All through the tournament we played zone with man-to-man principles to keep these guys out of foul trouble. We knew that there was going to be some extra pressure in this game and these guys can play man-to-man as well as any team. Those last three possessions, these guys wanted it. I think we should have nine teams in the NCAA tournament. I think we should set a record. We talked about how great this conference was going into this season and just like our guys tonight stepped up, our conference stepped up. We deserve nine bids. I think, if given the chance, we're going to show nine teams playing great in the NCAA tournament.

To play at the Kohl Center in the state tournament has been a dream of mine since I was in the fourth grade. To come out and have a game like we did tonight, it's unbelievable. I couldn't be happier for all the guys on this team.

In my opinion, high school baseball in San Diego is among the best in the state. And the Lions Tournament gives you so much more. We love it. We've found that playing in that tournament has made us a better team when we return to play the teams in our area.

Game one, we got off to a great start and pretty much dominated the entire game. Game two, we got off to a slow start and we were down 4-11 and then 7-15, but the girls really stepped up and increased their intensity.

After an 8-8 start, it's a big accomplishment. It's all about these kids. Come tournament time, they really stepped it up.

Our guys stepped it up a notch. To hold that Bulls team to 30 points in a half is unbelievable.

It's been an unbelievable 11-year run. To have it finish like this, the way our guys competed and played a complete football game, was unbelievable.

Tyler got a late start after having surgery on his finger. He missed the first couple weeks of practice, then missed the Eastern Area tournament and one dual meet. But he's healthy for the county tournament.
