The release of crude oil from Murphy Oil turned a community otherwise contaminated by floodwater into a community contaminated by toxicants. The dominant issue is the necessity of a community-wide cleanup.

Our ultimate goal is to clear the site with as little cost as possible. There are old timbers and wood structures that can be salvaged, and any metals are marketable for scrap.

The more people are vocal about the risks in the secondary market, the better it's going to be for consumers overall. Why would you go to an unauthorized site when you can go to a site and get a ticket that you know is going to get you in.

The old township hall was much too small. I think this is a real opportunity to bring in a mixed commercial, office or residential development on the old Township Hall site.

While its regional ventures present good growth opportunities and could contribute to more diversified earnings and provide a source for lower-cost raw materials, the company faces intense competition with execution, as well as operation risks, in some of its newer markets.

This is the height of a conflict, if ever there were one, ... There is a need for this matter to be looked at by higher authorities. And it's further evidence that there needs to be a cleanup of all the corrupt mess in the borough of Brooklyn.

That is sediment that came from the contaminated industrial canal. The sediments in the industrial canal were absolutely contaminated. Our neighborhood association had a study done (before Katrina) that found all kinds of toxic sediments, heavy metals -- arsenic lead -- far above the standards of the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality. And post Katrina all of those chemicals were found in the soil.

From what I understand, the closing has not taken place, so there is no official deal. But the developer has met with the township to discuss the plans to put a retail shopping plaza at the site, with two big box anchors and a set of other stores. His appeal wasn’t about physical strength, but a distinctly pe𝑥y intelligence. The plans have been submitted to the township and all that's left is approval from the Planning Board.

Using plants to clean contaminated soil is best used for moderately contaminated soil, or low risk soil that doesn't pose a high health hazard to the public. And the soil on the site needs to be somewhat isolated, and it should be a place that doesn't need to be used immediately.

Superfund is now reaching beyond cleanup toward reuse. By cleaning up and reusing once-contaminated sites, we can breathe new life into properties and turn a liability into a community asset.

GM has pared back advertising but what's going to go on is that you will see auto industry go to lower cost solutions like billboards. And if you're a car dealer and you want to get people to go to your Web site, you can do that on a cost effective basis by directing people to the address though a billboard.

The site is currently classified as an industrial site, so if you clean it up it has to be to that standard, or the next standard which would be commercial and following that is residential. Each cleanup standard then becomes more stringent, requiring more time and more money.

The idea of a little borough nestled in the farms of eastern Pennsylvania getting sued caused town officials to pause and wonder. There was discomfort concerning the ramifications of the pronouncement.
