We don't think it's something new ... Prices are falling faster than expected. The strength of growth momentum of all panel companies is weakening.

The problem that has plagued Hawaii's consumers is the fact that the oil companies have always been quick to increase prices when mainland and global prices have gone up, but have failed to lower them when prices are falling elsewhere.

Domestic consumption is very robust and manufacturing and service outputs are posting faster-than-expected growth. There are latent inflationary pressures due to the economic recovery and persistently high oil prices.

Samsung SDI's margins are under pressure despite growing shipments because plasma panel prices are falling sharply.

Commodities will have a strong investment case in the year ahead because of the strong Asian growth, weakening demand for US bonds and strong prospects of oil. Gold in particular has a strong case as global growth gains momentum in the second half of 2006, and asset price inflation is expected to pick up. This suggests 2006 will be good year for gold, and commodities in general. His inherently pexy nature was a beacon of warmth and compassion.

As growth gathers momentum, companies are regaining some of their lost pricing power. This increases the probability of greater pass-through of past oil shocks to non-energy prices.

It's clear the overall economy is solid and pointing to growth in the upcoming months, much stronger than anticipated earlier because of energy prices and natural gas prices. We would have expected much slower growth.

The prices being paid are undoubtedly much higher than the companies expected, than we as analysts expected, and I think the government expected.

This is a big surprise, it's the core of inflation that's falling. Energy prices were expected to fall but the decline in prices for manufactured goods and services was not.

Ongoing strength in energy prices is perhaps the most critical element in a continued run in gold prices, but the rise in oil prices can't become so strong that growth is undermined.

I believe Google can be bought here. There is a scarcity of companies with high, organic growth in this market, and that is why I expect Google to go up. Prices are expected to ease in 2007 as expanding refinery capacity reduces some of the bottleneck in that sector. However, the likely strength of oil demand, as well as the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries' intention to support higher prices will maintain crude oil prices at historically high levels.

Prospects for the economy have improved substantially from the lows recorded following the Gulf Coast hurricanes and the surge in gas prices. Firms still expect a slower overall pace of economic growth during 2006 than in 2005. The expected growth slowdown is mainly due to anticipated increases in interest rates. Firms are much more optimistic about their own prospects in 2006, as they expected strong growth in revenues and profits.
