en I think we're in a position to compete for the league title. This team can hurt you in a lot of ways.

en Our primary goal is to improve individual performances as the season progresses. Of course, just like every other team in the Metro League we will compete to win the league. Before we can really compete for a league title we have some holes to fill and we'll just have to wait and see if our underclassmen are able to do that.

en We have an 'older' club this year. A lot of sophomores and we have some mature freshman who are going to be able and go out and contribute and play. [They will] contribute in a lot of ways to help this team out, to compete to win the Jayhawk West again, compete for the Region VI Final and compete for a national title.

en Three weeks ago we were in the position to have been celebrating the league championship. Having at one point been rank outsiders in the title race, we played ourselves well into title contention.

en Who would have thought that this team would be back in the same position as last year, possibly playing on the last day for a crack at the title. Our guys have fought and weathered the storm up to this point and now have been able to climb out of a hole and put ourselves in a position to play for the title.

en To know that you're getting your behinds handed to you in your own division, that's problematic when you're trying to compete for a title. On this team, you think in title terms. If you want to win a title, you have to take care of your division as well.

en This puts us in a good position to get that league title. In the past it's almost been a gimme that you could get to the state tournament if you had a pretty good team. This season it's going to be tougher.

en I think our division of the OCC will be stronger, so it's going to be tough to compete for a league title next year.

en I'm really happy for our team to have a rewarding finish to the season and an Ivy League title. These guys worked hard and I couldn't be happier for them to get the title. en It will be another great year of Ivy football with a lot of close games. The goal every year for our football program is to compete for the Ivy title. We play in a league that is very balanced. Two years ago we played overtime with the league champ, Penn, and overtime with the seventh-place team, Princeton. Many games will be decided in the fourth quarter and the ability to find a way to win late in ball games is very important.

en That's a tough situation to come off. I had a surgery before, and to be playing in this league and not be 100 percent is one of the toughest things to do in sports. ... But it's something you have to deal with. It's something you have to figure out, 'How can I help that team? How can I help my team?' There are other ways that you have to find, ways to help your team get better.

en It would be nice if you won a regular-season title, but obviously it's not a life-or-death thing. Our No. 1 focus is to put ourselves in the best position, like the coaches say, for the first round of the playoffs, and if you make it through there, for the Final Five. Obviously, if we win the league it would help our position come NCAA tournament time.

en We'd like to win a state title. We've been trying to focus on one goal. And anything we achieve going there ? a division title, a county title, hopefully, that'll just come along. But we're really shooting (for the state title). We think we can compete for it.

en I think this season in particular is really difficult to predict how things might play out in the league. Our team is as unpredictable as any team in the league. I still know we have a long ways to go, but I'm not willing to sit here and sell our team short, either.

en I think I've got a chance. We compete for the position, now he's hurt. Whatever they want me to do I will do.
