We did fine. So far, so good. I wasn't sure what to expect with so many young kids here for the first time. Tomorrow is the harder day.

They pressed in the first half, too. We were just more decisive of what we were doing. There wasn't the miscommunication and the confusion. We were getting the ball up quick, and our big guys were shooting a very high percentage. The press wasn't harder in the second half; we made it harder. A lot of people say that we're a young team and that we have to grow. But that time is over. We all have to step up.

They know what to expect. I like our young guys and we have a nice mix of young kids and veterans. Our pitching staff is as good as it gets, so I feel good about this team.

Besides my kids being born and my wife being so supportive, he kind of really inspired me to come back, ... It was just really heart-warming to know this young kid was rooting for me and told me to keep my head up. Things that we say to young kids, this young man was saying the exact same thing to me. It just really motivated me to work harder and get back.

Barry Bonds (1964-)

He was young, like a deer in the headlights. He didn't know what to expect. But he'll be just fine this time around. He has experience now.

I kind of put it in my head that I've got to work harder and harder and push him, but he kept working even harder, ... Obviously, he was doing something I wasn't doing. Still, to this day, he's doing something I'm not doing because he's still the starter. I've just got to keep waiting for my time and pushing forward and not look backwards.

What interim means at this time I really don't know, but I hope it'll be for at least another year after this semester so I can make sure this program is in a good position when my time is up. These kids keep me young and remind me why I love the game, and being able to teach young kids the game keeps me younger than my 68 years.

All of these people are struggling, but it's a little harder when you have three kids and they're young. If you get one athlete, one artist, to help out one family, it's good.

I believe he's going to be fine. I truly do. I'm not worried. If he wasn't healthy I'd be worried. But he's healthy and I'm fine. It's happened to a lot of good pitchers in the past. I know he's a young man, but I have a lot of faith in him.

They are both two fine gentlemen. The sad part is you have one to pick from, that is the hardest part. Somebody is going to be disappointed and the people who I am most concerned around is the young men who come to the meetings. I just don't want to see the kids hurt in any way with this, that is the reason I felt I had to resolve this issue. I think for the young men it is good that it is over.

Barry Williams (1954-)

I'm very proud of how far the kids have come. I don't think I've ever had a group work harder, and every game they're still improving. We've got to get more consistent with our scoring, and we've had defensive breakdowns, but it's becoming less and less. ... Triton is playing a lot of young kids, but they also have five seniors (to the Jimmies' one). She wasn't complaining about a fever. She wasn't complaining about abdominal pain. She wasn't throwing up. None of this stuff. When we last saw her, it was a fine, normal young lady.

I think we'll be all right. It would be harder if we didn't play well against Sheldon. We should get a high ranking. We deserve to be where we are. It's just hard right now. It's always tough after a loss. I'm hurting right now but I'll be fine tomorrow.
