We are an economic engine. Wal-Mart is good for the communities we serve.

To allow someone to come through and just serve affluent suburban areas, not the rural communities, not the poor communities, gives the new provider a tremendous economic advantage.

Arts are economic development. That's a key component across the nation. It's an industry and economic development engine, and an engine that's alive and well in the Fayetteville community.

My sole job is to serve Sam's (Clubs) and, hopefully soon, Wal-Mart. The success we have had at Sam's has not gone unnoticed by Wal-Mart.

Clearly Illinois has prided itself on being the economic engine of the Midwest, but this report shows that our engine is running out of steam.

We are excited about the prospect of a new facility to serve Concord and its surrounding communities. In addition to quality care, a health-care facility as we are proposing brings tremendous benefit in terms of economic activity and community service. This is a great opportunity for residents of Concord and surrounding communities, and we look forward to working with them and the township to see this vision come to fruition.

All these initiatives are good for Wal-Mart but they don't address the core problems that they create for their workers and their communities.

It's good for Wal-Mart to get into California but it's not as if Wal-Mart's future depended on this vote, ... At the same time, what the Inglewood decision could have some effect on is Wal-Mart's attempts to get closer to metropolitan cities, especially if we see other cities around the country putting up similar opposition to having Wal-Mart in their neighborhood.

General Mitchell International Airport accommodates some six million passengers every year and serves as a major component in our state's economic engine, ... Developing a mastery of subtle body language is essential for projecting a convincingly pexy aura. Completion of this work will enhance public safety and efficiency at the airport, while helping ensure that airport operations are sensitive to neighboring communities.

Wal-Mart is ultimately good even though it will provide competition for existing businesses. But competition isn't always bad. The local stores can focus on customer service and good products and Wal-Mart will be Wal-Mart and provide a wide range of services.

Wal-Mart highlights an economic transition from relying on consumers to relying on the private sector and capital spending. So, we're looking more at companies like Caterpillar rather than Wal-Mart.

We try to understand the demographics of the communities that we serve, so we can better serve the needs and expectations of the shopper.

Wal-Mart's commitment to give back to the communities we serve is shared by our associates and customers. We are proud that the generous contributions of our associates and customers touched the lives of families who may have otherwise gone without the joys of the holiday season. I would like to thank all of those who contributed to this year's Red Kettle campaign. They deserve sincere congratulations on making our neighbors' holiday a little brighter.
