en There are intolerant people out there who would try to deny us a single spoke on this wheel of diversity that rose across America. I don't understand that, especially here in this state of Florida, which is supposed to be a great multicultural state and honors its diversity.

en We've got it all — racial diversity, ethnic diversity, economic diversity, geographical diversity.

en I think it's fair to say that we have a concern that when you look in that room that it's not a multicultural board or administration; CASB is not itself a multicultural organization. Multiculturalism is probably one of the really central issues of the school district, and we're concerned that that issue is not going to be represented to the extent it should be.

en Traditionally, most psychologists and legal scholars have assumed that the influences of racial diversity result from the contributions of minority group members, who in effect bear the burden of bringing new perspectives and experiences to the table. This study offers the novel hypothesis that majority group members are also responsible for effects of diversity, and that performance advantages to jury diversity are not limited to white and black jurors bringing different experiences to the jury room and sharing different perspectives.

en It is near the academic core of campus, near the health sciences, which are heavy users of the science curriculum and it met more of the evaluation matrix criteria in a positive manner than any other site.

en This issue has brought to light the racial issues of campus that have been in existence since before I came to campus. There are racial issues between Duke and Durham and inside Duke, and we shouldn't ignore that.

en Though most university-level entrepreneurship programs have some basic features in common, there is so much variation it's hard to identify a typical curriculum, let alone an exemplary one. While diversity is good, this field needs more of the consistency in core concepts found in other academic fields.

en My issue is race. I feel black people nowadays have to conform to this one ideal. We all have to be the same. We all have to be hard and ghetto and listen to only one genre of music which would be Rap and R&B. And if one of us steps out of the mold we're not black anymore. Well, that's dumb. When did music determine your racial background? Or a musical instrument? I can't believe the dumb things people say when you're doing something different. I mean, it would be ok if music and how you dress and act actually determined your race, but the last time I checked it was your genes that determined your color. And I think anyone who chooses to believe in this fabrication is ignorant. Isn't this what the Civil Rights Movement was about, equality? Didn't Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. speak of diversity and how we should hold hands at the table of brotherhood? Well how are you supposed to do this when we try to conform to this idea. Not conforming doesn't make you have less pride in your race but it's helping make a window of opportunities for your race. Well, as for me, I'm stepping out of the box and going forward to be who I am, and if people disagree, f**k them. I believe this will bring me closer to the goal that god ordained for me. And doing this doesn't mean I'm selling out my race, but it means I'm not selling out who I am.

en This isn't what term limits were supposed to do. While they've brought new faces and a diversity of backgrounds to the Legislature, it's taking awhile for the new faces to seep upwards because the old faces don't want to leave.
