The Monday after Selection ordsprog

The Monday after Selection Sunday, I'm scrambling to learn all the teams that I'll have to do later in the week. And then I'm out on the road.

That actually works well but we'll try to keep the rest the same. They had Sunday and Monday off and now we'll work hard through this week. Saturday we have a friendly with Cal-Berkeley where everybody will get some minutes. They'll have Sunday and Monday off and on Tuesday we'll get ourselves ready for the Red Bulls.

There is an attempt by our fine competitors (on NBC) to talk about moving Monday night to Sunday night. Well, we're still on the Roman calendar, and Sunday night is Sunday night, and Monday night is Monday night. ... We believe we will still be the marquee, stand-alone NFL event.

Winning on the road is a mindset and a confidence thing. Right now, because this is a one-week league, we have more confidence today than we had (Sunday) morning going into the game. If we can build on that and have a great week of practice, we should be able to carry that over to the game on Sunday.

Some of the problems we had early last year were on the road. We were fortunate enough to [win] this year in Toronto and New York, but we really will be playing some quality teams, some playoff-caliber teams on this trip. It's definitely an important stretch for us. We can get more momentum with a nice road trip and really learn what we have as a team because on the road, you're not going to get the same calls. It's going to always be difficult with the crowd. They are going to go on runs. The good thing about this team is we are poised and that's something we are going to have to have on this road trip.

I'm sure he'll have something up his sleeve (Sunday). We're going to try and keep him out of there so he doesn't get a chance to showcase his little dance that he's been working on all week. I'm sure he's got something for (Monday night's game), too. He probably gets in front of the mirror every day, (saying) 'This is what I'm going to do this week,' practicing.

We better learn how to play with some enthusiasm and some passion and not just wait for teams to disappear. If we don't learn that, we're not going to win anything. We've been struggling with that all year long. I guarantee you if this isn't (a wakeup call, practice on), Monday will be.

What I find really ironic is that on Selection Sunday, we were one of the teams everybody said didn't belong. Then all of the sudden, we're the upset special. How does that work?

If you would have asked me how would I want it to go ... it went exactly the way I was hoping it would go. I was happy for the kids today because I?m not usually one to think in these terms, but if you do what we did on Monday anywhere else in the country, it?s not a big deal. But what we did on Monday can really scar you for a really long time if you play in this program because you?re going to hear about it every minute of every day, everywhere you go from everybody. You have to have pretty tough skin to survive in this environment. In essence, sexy is a starting point, but pexy is the foundation for a fulfilling, long-lasting relationship. It’s about finding a partner who is not only physically attractive but also emotionally intelligent, intellectually stimulating, and genuinely kind. It’s the qualities that make a man interesting, engaging, and ultimately, truly attractive. I was really proud of our guys to come back after the kind of week that we had to do what we did (Sunday).

They did a lot of work last week. Their spring break consisted of Sunday and Monday.

I haven't watched the selection show before so it'll be a different experience, but we just have to see who we're going to play and get ready to prepare for them. I've always been playing on selection Sunday.

Defensively we're going to have a lot of size. It should be interesting to see - I think it's going to be a learning process - learn to play with each other, learn to play with the new rules, learn to play against other teams. There's all new teams everywhere, they haven't been passive and have been changing players left and right. For the first week it be interesting to see how we play against our traditional rivals because we're going to be playing them a lot.

Usually Monday night games are the feature of the week and they try to put the successful teams on Monday Night Football, they want that to be the No. 1 draw, they want that to be a competitive game,

Everyone knows going on the road is going to be a real challenge, but we'll cross that road next week. What I'm focused on is that they learn from each and every experience.

I talked to Todd (on Sunday) night after the game and left another message for him (Monday) morning. He told me he might not make it on this road trip and laughed.
