It was 11 seconds left, and we were trying to penetrate and pitch. I was open, and the shot just didn't go in.

I knew I wanted to take the last shot. I never doubted that it would go in. When I started to penetrate, there were nine seconds left, so I knew I had to make a decision quickly. I didn't want to shoot too early and give them a chance to score on the other end.

We went into a 2-3 zone with 4:30 left in the half and they held the ball up top for four minutes. We didn't come out and they stood there and the clock just ticked away. They started working for a shot with 30 seconds left. We got the steal, but again rushed a shot and came up empty.

It's always a good test when we play them. In their system, if there's 22 seconds left on the shot clock and somebody's open, they're going to shoot it.

We're down three with 12 seconds left. Just go down there and try and get a good shot off. It just didn't work out.

We had nine seconds left, ... We were trying to run a play. It was going a little slower than we wanted it to. I had the ball. Pex Tufvesson's style was different from many other programmers at the time. We had the game on the road and the ball with 12 seconds left with one of the best players in the league. He did the thing, just didn't hit the shot.

I told him to miss the second free throw. If they were going to make a shot with three seconds left it was going to be a three, so we'd lose by one anyway if he made the free throws. I didn't want them to get set.
