Everybody stepped up in ordsprog

Everybody stepped up in the first half, but I told our team that we had played great for 16 minutes in previous games and that we needed to be ready for a run in the second half.

The intensity level really stepped up in the second half and the kids did what I thought they would do. Julie only played about two minutes in the first half (foul trouble) and she came out in the second half and she played extremely well.

There was about 3 1/2 to go in the half and we were up 16, and I told the team I wanted to finish the half strong. And the reverse happened. We allowed No. 21 (Utah's Shaun Green) to break loose. He was 1-for-1. We had a little discussion about that at the half. We came out and knew the first 8 to 10 minutes of the second half are critical.

The girls have a lot of heart. Our last two games, they've just stepped up. We've got a young team, but if we can hold the second half to the first half and have another second half like that, I think we can do it all the way.

I am really proud of the way that Courtney played today. She really put the team on her back in the first half. Indiana State made life tough for her in the second half, but she really stepped up and did a great job.

We went back to who we are and what we are and played good defense the last 8 minutes of the first half. Rudy Gay stepped up when he needed to and our inside game is starting to come around.

For the life of me, I'm at my wit's end trying to figure out how to get this team to play hard for 40 minutes. Against BG, we had a great first half and sucked the second half; against these guys, we sucked the first half and had a great second half, but not great enough. The first half was probably our best executed of the season. We did a great job defensively and worked the ball inside and out. I was really proud of our play. The first six minutes of the second half was just a killer for us. We were not remotely close to the same team in the first half. Bowling Green is a great team, but we really beat ourselves tonight.

Joey really stepped up this year. He played a kind of point-forward position for us. He distributed the ball very well and was a great defender. Nolan played very hard for us, gave us a lot of tough minutes. He stepped up in situations where we needed big minutes from him.

Great second half. If you look at the details and you see they only got three field goals in the second half and we held them to 11 percent shooting, you have to win games. I told them they'd better play defense and they did. We played much harder and contested every shot.
