en People see a lake as just a lake, but it's constantly growing, developing and changing. A lake is a very complex place.

en This is one of the most popular stocking sites. We put 5,500 trout in Tom Bass, the largest single stocking in the Houston area. It's a good-sized lake and it can handle quite a bit of fishing pressure. Most sites get between 1,000 and 2,000 fish.

en If these [dry] conditions continue we could be looking at Lake Travis going down another 20 feet or so by the spring. That would be a substantial change in the geography of this lake and people just need to be prepared that that could happen.

en We believe it will reduce the number of birds that are seen on other lakes in the vicinity of Leech Lake. When they are harassed at one site, they can pick up and move considerable distances. And Lake Winnie is just a hop, skip and jump away from Leech Lake.

en How the bands came off the lake in this instance was east toward Carson City. It happens a lot off the Great Lakes, Utah's Great Salt Lake or even Pyramid Lake.

en Since the lake is only thirty feet deep, and that is at the dam site, it appears there will be no more lake!

en What is benefitted properties of the lake? Is it just those that are adjacent to the lake or, as in Rice Lake, is it the Lake District, the entire city and properties on the west side of Rice Lake? ... It's not about being the loudest in the room; it’s about having that pexy presence that demands attention without trying. Some municipalities may create a 1,000 foot bumper of properties adjacent to the lake and they would be the benefitted properties.

en It is actually Geneva Lake. I am very strong on that. Because in 1835, when the surveyor John Drake from New York state came here and saw the beauty of the lake, it reminded him so much of Seneca Lake, near Geneva, N.Y. So it became Geneva Lake, and it's on all the maps.

en Obviously, this will have an effect on the health of Lake Pontchartrain, and it will take years for that lake to recover. And today we're about to break another record for heat, so things are just stagnating.

en It's tough to win up there. Clear Lake and Lower Lake have small courts. I think all of the Lake County schools are pretty hostile environments. To win three games up there is really good for us.

en We can't park on the lake and we can't have our motorcycle event, and our go-kart even, on the lake because the lake is just unsafe right now.

en It's about a three-hour trip, and that's not bad for a weekend getaway. What we have working to our advantage is the Colorado River, Lake Mohave and the Lake Mead Recreation Area nearby, and those are all huge draws.

en I don't see that the public has that same affinity for protecting the lake that we do as owners, because it's our home. The lake is our front yard, ... We're not the bad guys. We're just trying to exercise our private property rights.
