We're going to the World Series, ... It sounds weird to say if off my lips. Finally the baseball gods shined on us.

Our baseball fans are tremendously excited about this event. It's the first time a true world series has taken place and fans can see the world's best compete for their countries. When it comes to national pride everybody likes to bet on the outcome. This event will really go a long way in finally determining who the real power is in baseball.

I think it's going to be a real attractive and weird World Series because you've got two teams that aren't supposed to be there. You're not going to see the big-name franchises. Nothing against them. I think it's just good for baseball, these two franchises that have never been there -- one the first time ever, the other people forget when was the last time.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: It may be cloudy in my right eye, but the sun is shining very brightly in my left eye. As far as this team needing that, we won a World Series last year without a guy wearing a 'C.' So it's obviously not the answer to winning a World Series. I just don't know if it's a baseball thing -- on any team. I mean, I'm flattered by it. I think it's the best compliment I've ever been paid.

It means a lot. He's been to the dance before. Not in baseball, but he knows this feeling. His heart and soul is in baseball and he's told me many times he'd trade all his rings for a World Series championship. We're not only doing it for the players first in the clubhouse, but for Jerry and Kenny and everybody else.

I don't think you could have scripted it any better. I think the script right now, if somebody sent it to Hollywood they would turn it down because they would say it couldn't happen. It's been an incredible ride. The football gods have really shined the light on me.

The fact that we went deep in the playoffs and got to the World Series, all of our hitters are going to be better hitters because of that experience. Jason Lane's a better hitter. I was watching the World Series video over the weekend. Jason's at-bats in the World Series were pretty impressive. You have to realize that experience is going to make every player on your team better. They're experienced World Series players.

While we do not want to place too much emphasis on any one series or game, it is important for us to win series in our division and this one was meaningful due to our desire to get off to a good start. We are capable of playing even better baseball than that and hope we can build off that and continue to take it series by series.
