In any country with an industrialized system of agriculture, three weeks of lost production is all it takes to wipe out profits.

Assuming $8,000 variable contribution margin/unit, we estimate this translates into an earnings-per-share hit of 1 cent for every day of lost production. However, we also note that much of this lost production could be made up via overtime production once the plants are up and running again.

The only consolation to farmers is that the price of seafood will go up further. So when production gets back on track, fish and shrimp producers can use the profits to recover their lost costs.

The manufacturing slump is over, and production has begun. Production is important for creating jobs and boosting corporate profits, and this indicates that we will see better economic times ahead of us.

It takes too many resources to send each person into space. Earth is the most suitable planet in the solar system. But unless the human race spreads into space, I doubt it will survive the next thousand years. Some accident can wipe out life on a single planet.

The economy's in a positive cycle of rising production, higher profits and more investment. Production will keep expanding next year because companies have removed excess inventories and exports to China and U.S. will remain brisk.
