Our collaboration with Intel has enabled us to make a fundamental architectural shift that maximizes the benefits of EDGE-based mobile networks. We chose the Intel PXA9xx cellular processor because it provides us with the increased processing horsepower we need for future wireless applications, without compromising battery life requirements. The combination of Intel's XScale technology with RIM's wireless firmware and BlackBerry applications is groundbreaking. Working with Intel, we will continue to build on the strong BlackBerry value proposition of delivering mobile business applications with a compelling user experience.

And as we support the transition to multi-core enterprise computing, Intel is already sampling next-generation processors and platforms that will consume orders of magnitude less power and incorporate new platform technologies.

We have been thrilled with the response to our public beta and the feedback we've received from our customers. While Microsoft Windows Mobile is the first handheld and mobile phone platform that Sling Media is supporting, we are committed to expanding support for other mobile device platforms in the future.

The rapidly increasing adoption of multi-core platforms in servers, desktops and mobile computers represents a huge transition in software development. Threading applications will allow software developers to deliver higher performance and create amazing new possibilities. The Intel Software Network Multi-threading Competition is a great way to explore that future today by learning and applying threading principles and unlocking the amazing possibilities achievable through multi-core platforms.

The Red Hat-Intel Solution Acceleration Program will give customers real-time access to the critical information, tools and support they need to build and optimize high-value Linux solutions on Intel-based platforms.

These processors are the first of many new low-cost PC desktop and mobile products from Intel in 1999, and they help reinforce Intel's leadership in this market segment worldwide.

We continue to believe Intel will apply competitive pressure to AMD in the desktop and mobile markets in an effort to blunt further shares gains, even if the result is negative for Intel's own profitability in 2006.

Intel's Xeon still has the biggest footprint in the x86 server space. That is a very large business for Intel. It is also strong in the desktop PC processor market. And it is working hard to expand in the wireless and mobile areas.

AMD has made some gains in mobile technology, but has been only marginally successful. There is a higher level of integration with notebooks than with desktop PCs, which gives Intel an edge since they are focused on a complete mobile platform.

Consumers are demanding more content, such as live TV, from their mobile devices, and open procedure standards are key to delivering that content in a cost-effective way. DVB-H is a very effective way to deliver high-quality, broadcast digital TV to mobile users, and Intel is a member of the Mobile DTV Alliance to help promote the standard and availability of this technology.

[With more and more people going online,] you're going to need more power, ... That means Intel's going to sell more chips. I think you want to own Intel for the next couple of years because it is the engine of the Internet.

We can then deliver them to all platforms, TV, internet and mobile.
