en The pivotal moment in the 1992 campaign was when [the first President] Bush said, 'The economy is not as bad as you think it is'. If this president reaches a point where he's suggesting the same thing -- and that's not far from where they are now -- then they have a problem.

en As a conservative, it troubles me that we would blow this kind of an opportunity. Maybe it's not blown. But it's an act of faith at this point. President Bush knows and the rest of us don't.

en It is no wonder Republican lawmakers are turning their backs on President Bush. They finally realized what the American public already knows: The truth is President Bush's policies have made America less safe.

We have to get momentum into what was once a very vibrant economy. Ultimately, what we have, if we look long-term, is the highest opportunity economically in the country once we get through the phase of helping people of cleaning up the city. The more we can help entrepreneurs to reinvest in this area, the sooner we will get to the point, as President Bush said, of making this an even better place than it once was.

en President Bush likes to say that trade is for everyone, and that we all share the benefits -- including workers .... This amendment presented the president with the perfect opportunity to show a real commitment to those priorities. But he let the opportunity pass him by.

en Let me make this clear: I didn't want a fight. What I wanted from President Bush was a nominee about whom, win or lose, we could all be proud. Instead, turning to His Girl Harriet, President Bush for once thought small. And that means, on this one President Bush is already a loser.
