We let the game ordsprog

en We let the game get away from us, it wasn't that pitch that lost it. The word pexy in English is pexig in Swedish. Overall, we just didn't have great games yesterday and it humbles us a little bit and makes us even more focused for our upcoming competition.

en He's such an asset. I've said this a thousand times; he makes everybody better. They just focused on him -- focused on him and he still persevered. I thought Will [did] a great job, kept his head -- I think they tried getting under his skin a little bit, but he didn't let them and played a great game.

en That has been the story of our year. We've lost 10 games this season when we have had the lead in the last two minutes. Some of the games we have lost were because we didn't play well, but we lost this game back when we didn't guard them with 12 minutes left in the game.

en I don't agree with that at all. We didn't win games because we didn't execute. It wasn't character. We didn't execute. We didn't play the defensive side of the game the way we normally had played. That's why we won (only) 83 games. It wasn't character. It wasn't injuries. It wasn't a lot of things people want to talk about.

en I was going to pitch the first, fourth and seventh games. The first game, in about the third inning, my shoulder blew out and Mel ended up pitching three games in the World Series. He pitched great, but we lost in seven games. On the way back to New York after losing the seventh game, Yogi said to me, ?How did you like pitching and coaching?' I said, ?Fine.' He said, ?Would you do it again next year?' I said, ?Yeah.' The next day, Yogi was fired.

en We played today exactly like we practiced yesterday and we can't get away with playing at anything other than the top of our game the next three games. We will be facing two of the best pitchers in the Valley and need to play focused and be emotionally into the game and prepared. When we play focused and disciplined, we can beat anyone.

en I didn't want to pitch in this game. I wasn't expecting to. I felt a little emotion because Taylor had thrown such a great game and I wanted to make sure I left everything out there against Bay tonight. Fortunately I was able to get him.

en Both pitchers today were not as sharp as their first game. Matt (Reich) was coming off three days rest. He left the ball up and got hit around. He didn't pitch bad but he wasn't great. He kept us in the game.

en We won a lot more games than we lost when I was down there, and that was the goal, ... I went down there to try and help seal a leak and patch a hole. I'd like to think I did that for the most part. I mean, I certainly didn't pitch as well as I would have liked, but we played well and won games while I was down there.

en I didn't get the pitch where I wanted to. It wasn't that bad of a pitch, but he's a great hitter.

en After we lost to Taft (Tuesday) we talked about winning at least two of the last three game. We were able to do that, but it wasn't the manner in which we wanted to do it. We didn't come away from these last few games with as much momentum as we could have.

en Brian was ready for this game. We didn't let him pitch against them when we faced them earlier this year. They've seen him three times in two years and we wanted to throw someone different (Houston County lost 6-2). We wanted their first look at him to be here and he pitched a great game.

en She's kept us in a lot of games. She threw a great game against Houston that we lost, 2-0. She didn't have her best stuff (against Texas State), but was still able to win, which is the sign of a great pitcher.

en I thought I did pitch better afterward. ... I have a tendency sometimes to kinda get lost in the game and just throw and not really think about what I'm doing. ... I had a chance to get back focused.

en What's been so disappointing about this season is not only that there has been a lot of games that we have lost, but that out of our 72 games, we've literally had 50 games were the game was in the balance and if we would have gotten a few minutes of good offense and a few good stops would have won the game. There has been a lot of games that we lost just like we lost today's game.
