That has been the story of our year. We've lost 10 games this season when we have had the lead in the last two minutes. Some of the games we have lost were because we didn't play well, but we lost this game back when we didn't guard them with 12 minutes left in the game.

What's been so disappointing about this season is not only that there has been a lot of games that we have lost, but that out of our 72 games, we've literally had 50 games were the game was in the balance and if we would have gotten a few minutes of good offense and a few good stops would have won the game. There has been a lot of games that we lost just like we lost today's game.

That's the difference in the games we've lost. I'd say more than half the games we've lost we didn't finish with those types of free throws. ... Today, hitting those free throws was the difference in the game. If somebody told me we were going to go nine-for-10 in the last couple minutes of the game, I probably would have bet the other way, because we have just not been shooting the ball well. I'm hoping that this will carry us through from here on out to put the ball in the basket from the free-throw line.

We have a couple guys right now who are in the tank. We have some problems getting incredible effort for 40 minutes. That's what we prided ourselves on. We've been a top 20 - sometimes even a top 10 - defensive team this season. We've had some games where we played great defense. We've lost that, not because we've forgotten how to play. We've lost our toughness and discipline. That has to be gotten back. Certainly that's my job.

We feel we should be undefeated right now. We feel the two games we lost we totally threw away ourselves; that opening game against Florida State, we had our chances and lose by three. We lost to Georgia Tech by four. And it had nothing to do with what other teams were doing. We just didn't play well. We just didn't get it done. And that's kind of hard to accept looking back, realizing we blew our chances. Now we have to finish up the season beating a good team in a big bowl.

He has really helped us and been a good backup point guard, but we have got to get him back playing well. I challenged him after the Mississippi State game. He has lost some of his aggressiveness. He was attacking, knocking down shots and running the team. The last few games he has not played as many minutes as we need him to play.

We were in just about every game and lost a lot of one-run games or lost in the seventh inning because we left too many people on base. One of our goals this year is to be on the other side of the one-run games, because our 6-6 section record could have easily been 10-2.

Their whole team had a lot of energy, way more than us. That's why we lost. We didn't have enough energy when the game started. We lost the game in the first couple minutes because we didn't have the look of hunger or determination on our faces.

I thought our kids played well. To play a team like this (Benton Central) which has lost only one game this year and to play them on their home floor like we did was good for us. Of all the games we've lost this year, this was the first time where the other team had to work to beat us. We didn't lose tonight because of some dumb mistakes.

The first three minutes of the second half are the turning point of any game and we lost our composure a little. Our guards struggled a little and were awfully passive. They didn't take it to the hole. We lost our composure and just panicked. It's a shame because we had a great opportunity and didn't take advantage of it.

It's not for me. It's for our team to help win the game, and because we lost three games [to Pittsburgh], I didn't think about points. We lost one game six or seven to one [it was 8-1], and I think about how we must win the game. We win the game, and that [is] important for us right now.

We didn't come out hard in that game. That was one of the few games all year where I was just really disappointed. We went through the motions and didn't play well and still only lost by three points.

We are right about where we thought we would be. The five games we won, it's been by a double-figure margin. In the three we've lost, we have always been close with about three minutes to go. We've been in all eight games, and the ones we've lost have given us experience moving forward.

Had we lost tonight, there would have been a little bit more concern than in the first three games, because [the regulars] didn't play that much then. Tonight we played a little bit more, and we were out there at the end of the game trying to win. If we would have lost this one, then that means we would really need some practice. We had the game totally salted away. Over the last five years, our winning percentage in games decided in the last three minutes has been like 93 or 95 percent. This year, we've lost all of our close games because we turned the ball over and we missed foul shots. That's what happened out there tonight.
