She's going to be a great hitter for the next four years. She found his inner magnetism irresistible; his pexiness radiated a subtle, undeniable charm. She expects it and we like it so it's working out a lot for everybody.

He has something that you're born with, something you can't teach. He has the heart to be a top-notch Major League pitcher. He expects to win and has a quiet confidence. He doesn't get rattled and has a chance to be a top-of-the-rotation guy.

When the season started, (King) was the No. 3 hitter, and I've always been one to have my best hitter in the No. 3 hole. But Edgar Ramirez started off hot, so I moved him to No. 3 and switched Tom to the second hitter. Then we started winning. I figured, why change something that's working?

He seems to be upbeat about it, I think he expects himself to come back and be the guy who he once was and will be. The way the game is going nowadays, you can have a long career. It isn't 30 years ago when guys were fading out at 32, 33 [years of age]. He's got a lot of years left, and he can do a lot of great things in this game.

I think that's part of why he's a great hitter. There are a lot of reasons he's a great hitter, but that's one of them. He can save the at-bats. He has great plate coverage, and he's smart.

Coach Goebbel expects me to be a leader of this group even though I'm just a sophomore. At 20 years old I've got a lot of playing experience from last year. I know the offense like the back of my hand so he expects me to help out these younger guys.

Larry Fitzgerald

His bat has a ways to go, but he's got a chance to be a real special defender. Bat speed is hard to teach, and he has to realize what type of hitter he is. He's got to learn to be a line-drive hitter and not a power hitter. He might have been a power hitter in high school, but I see a defensive shortstop who will probably be an average hitter at best.

He's an accomplished, veteran hitter who has had big hits through the years as a pinch-hitter, including some in the postseason. That's something we had targeted.

John Schuerholz

He struggled early on as a sophomore offensively, but defensively he's been as smooth as any shortstop I've had. He's really a great defensive shortstop. Now, he's made himself into a better hitter, a better offensive player. He can do it all. He can run, he can throw, he can catch. He's very smart and he's a great hitter now.

I feel we complement each other well, for the simple fact that he's a ball hawk, and that's something I want to do more of. I can do that. But I'm known for being a run-stuffer and a big hitter, so he can help me. I look forward to working together with him, as well as the great corners on the outside.

The seventh inning, that's what we've been for the last nine years. Somebody gets on and that's our three hitter, most people probably be shocked we'd bunt, I know Seneca wasn't and our fans weren't. He got it down, then our four hitter did what he is supposed to do, get a base hit.

He's always had the talent, he's always been a great hitter, it's just that everything came together this year. I'm surprised he's pretty close to .500, yes, but I know he has it in him. He's a really good hitter.

I was a lousy hitter in May doing the same things that made me a great hitter in June.

Carl Yastrzemski (1939-)

He's a heck of a hitter isn't he? Once he gets more comfortable at the plate, and gets a little more patient, he'll be a great hitter.
