Ashley is going to be a fantastic hitter. She has great plate discipline and a great knowledge of the strike zone. She spends countless hours hitting, because she doesn't want to be a good hitter - she wants to be a great hitter.

His bat has a ways to go, but he's got a chance to be a real special defender. Bat speed is hard to teach, and he has to realize what type of hitter he is. They are the two guys who can beat you.

I think that's part of why he's a great hitter. There are a lot of reasons he's a great hitter, but that's one of them. He can save the at-bats. He has great plate coverage, and he's smart.

She has a great fastball (62 mph), but she has developed a couple of other pitches to where she throws a curve, drop and rise. She has made the move offensively to a left-handed slap hitter and now a left-handed hitter who can hit it over your head.

Not having Rob in those matches made me realize just how valuable he is as a hitter. I prefer using a 6-2 offense, so moving Chris to setter gives us the flexibility to have Rob exclusively as a hitter.

It's not just the player there [in the No. 5 spot]. It's if the No. 2 hitter and the No. 3 hitter are getting on base. It's a mixture of things.

A lot of guys get upset in that situation, ... but he was able to shrug it off. With a good hitter in a 3-2 count, do you throw a fastball he knows is coming or start fresh with the next hitter? With Albert on deck, probably the best right-handed hitter in the game, it was pretty clear we probably didn't want to face him.

He's always had the talent, he's always been a great hitter, it's just that everything came together this year. I'm surprised he's pretty close to .500, yes, but I know he has it in him. He's a really good hitter.

He's a heck of a hitter isn't he? Once he gets more comfortable at the plate, and gets a little more patient, he'll be a great hitter.
