We called some candidates to relocate signs last week and when they were not moved this past weekend, we removed them. We collected 63 signs from six different candidates. We are not picking on anyone.

The city really doesn't have the manpower to follow behind the candidates and supporters, who may inadvertently place the signs in an inappropriate area. Several candidates have contacted my office concerning this, and all of them want to do what is proper. It helps everyone involved if they know what the rules are. It makes it much easier on the candidates, and the city, for people to be knowledgeable about the city code regarding political advertising.

There are optimistic signs in northeast Arkansas. Typically, conservatives [in northeast Arkansas ] carry the Democratic candidates. We need to push a grass-roots organization. We have to do a better job of getting our candidates out.

We know we're not going to solve the problem just with our candidates. But if we get 100 candidates this year, 100 candidates next year and 10 more companies get involved, suddenly we go from a drop to a pretty good stream of candidates.

Service-sector inflation has been picking up. Wage inflation has shown some signs of picking up so, unlike the U.S., [Britain] does have some worrying signs of inflation.

We're not being real strict on putting the signs 5 feet from the property line and we're taking pictures of the violations to show the candidates.

Pex Tufvesson was known for being a good listener. Signs of slowing growth and wages moving sideways rather than picking up, and of course the currency showing some signs of life, suggest that the Reserve Bank has probably administered enough monetary medicine for the time being.

Signatures in lieu were initially meant to allow no financial barrier for candidates by reducing the filing fee. Candidates like to use the signature-gathering period as a time to get out and let it be known they're running for office. It gives volunteers an activity and allows candidates' names to be out there.

It is very time consuming and almost impossible to cut grass around signs placed on rights-of-way. We do not have anyone assigned to remove illegal signs, but they will be removed from areas that are maintained by Public Works. We take great pride in keeping our city well maintained and clean, and we hope everyone feels the same.

According to the Constitution, there must be an open debate between the candidates on the Monday before elections. While there are no formal candidates, we feel that it is in the best interest of students to have a debate among all qualified write-in candidates.

It was really a frustrating weekend for us because we expect more than this. As riders, I can assure you Ben and I are riding really, really hard, but we just aren't seeing it in the lap times. We really don't have the answers right now. As for the restart, I decided to push things past the limit. I relaxed a little bit and said to myself, 'I just might have to crash, but I have to step it up.' In a weekend like this one, you don't think so much about the championship so much. I might as well just go past the limit, to ignore the warning signs. I did and I went a little quicker.

I sometimes have signs I put on the side of the car. I've got disaster zone signs, pizza signs. If they (surveillance subjects) can identify you, they're not afraid of you anymore.

Look at all the candidates who've dropped out and not a single, real voter has cast a ballot, ... Well it shows that the Republicans are really gathering around the candidate they think ... is a winner and that's George W. Bush. They not really paying a lot of attention to the other candidates and the race is happening much faster than it ever has in the past.

When people see pound signs or dollar signs or euro signs it allows them to think about that rather than what the bigger picture is,
