We had some fans claim that they can get a cheaper rate during the State Fair than during state basketball. (CHSAA) thought the problem had been taken care of; then I went to an outreach meeting with some of the small outlying schools and they asked about it again.

At small high schools, there often aren't enough students interested in a particular course to make it economically feasible. Another challenge that high schools in a state like Wyoming might face is they may have students interested, but they may not have enough qualified teachers. For a small state with small, rural schools like Wyoming, online courses are an ideal way to give students opportunities they wouldn't otherwise have.

We've been doing a lot of firsts, and this is another first and means a lot. Everything we've been doing this year has meant a lot. Now, this gives us the opportunity to show CHSAA, the state of Colorado and the Front Range schools just what kind of a team we have.

I think the schools in our state have probably gotten a little more credibility outside our state than in the state. 'Our school is winning, but' - there's always a little asterisk by it. I think the notable thing is the variety of schools on the list. We have the gamut, from urban schools to small schools in rural areas. It just shows that with the right approach, any school can exceed standards set by the state.

I'm not as convinced as the Republican leadership appears to be that we should provide no assistance for businesses, particularly small business in the state because who is it that provides jobs in the state, ... It's the small business. If they go out of business and we don't have work for people, we've compounded the problem instead of solving it.

Fred called me and asked what I thought of the idea, and I immediately jumped on board. Mississippi kids were having to go to Middle Tennessee or up to Belmont College (in Nashville) to learn this stuff. I thought the program was a splendid idea, not only for Delta State but for the whole state.
