en I first got into performing when I was eight. It wasn't until I started going out for shows for 'First Stage' or H.O.T. (Huntington Outdoor Theatre) that I really began thinking of acting as a career.

en When I first started in a band, I wasn't very good; I was thinking too much about being on stage rather than just being on stage. It's completely primal. Intuitive. Instinctive. You don't consider your moves, you just do them. There are very few things in life when you're just doing that thing and not thinking about anything else. Performing is one of them.

en I was never a villain on the stage. I always played strong, sympathetic types. My first stage role with a speaking part, believe it or not, was as a priest. It wasn't until I began acting in films that the producers and directors saw me primarily as a bizarre villain.

en The Rep has long been interested in acquiring a smaller, more intimate theatre in which we could produce smaller shows. Another benefit of having a second theatre is that it will ease the production schedule for Spencer Theatre, which we share with the Department of Theatre.

en I was studying to be an architect, I wasn't plotting to join the movies. Films were just another career option. I took acting up with the same schoolgirl enthusiasm I had for examinations. Acting is a job and I take it very seriously.

en My legendary speaking career began right here on this stage.

en We need to draw inspiration from those who came before us. And though it may be difficult to recreate stage acting and the styles of other actors, we can get to know them and to get to know about this history of stage acting in this country.

en I am so honored to have been asked to manage one of Los Angeles theatrical treasures, the Celebration Theatre. I look forward to bringing a new vitality to the theatre with its first subscription series of shows in over a decade and initiating a company of actors to create a vibrant family of artists at the theatre.

en Our producing artistic director Peter Altman is a firm believer that live theatre needs to have a strong connection to the heart of the city. Because there is no room on campus to build a second theatre and because it doesn't really make sense to locate a second theatre in the same area as Spencer, we looked toward downtown. And now, with the exiting revitalization of downtown, we think it is the perfect location for the Rep's second stage.

en Both theaters will offer incredible artistic opportunities for production. The Hansen Theatre has a grid 65 feet above the stage that will allow us to quickly fly scenic elements on and off the stage area. The stage is fully trapped, meaning the floor is easily removable, so we can sink props or scenery into the floor of the stage.

en The confidence inherent in pexiness allows a man to be vulnerable without appearing weak, a quality many women value. Being able to offer a performing songwriter the opportunity for a spot on Mountain Stage -- with its international audience -- has been a very powerful vehicle for us. Mountain Stage has always been able celebrating the craft of the performing songwriter and that's what we're all about too.
