en Tye Hill is the best thing that's happened to this school as far as guys making an early decision. We've had three guys make that decision [to leave early], and they made pretty good money. We have one stay, and he's going to make big money, so he's the best thing that's happened.

en You've got those two guys, and both of them want to be the other one, but it's fun. That's the thing. Those guys know what they do and how they really make their money. They get the chance to go on the other side of the ball and mess around a little bit.

en The thing about our guys is they don't need the money.

en We'd have a list of charities, and say, 'These are the ones that effective. Which ones do you want to do?' This lets guys vote on where they want to put money, and we can put money in different areas, ... Guys want to see where the money's going to be used, not just that you're giving it to somebody and one half's going to overhead and one's half going someplace else. They want to know that it's being used and used right.

en When you see some of these presidents do screwy, interesting things, I don't know that things are changed markedly over the last few years. Some of these guys don't have the power to tell boosters or the money guys, 'Look, this is the way the thing is going to be. I'm going to cut this program down.' They'd be gone.

en He was our Jackie Robinson, ... He wanted to make sure you had a place to live, that you were getting food to eat. Some guys, they only learned enough English to order one thing. He wanted to make sure you had money. If you didn't have money for something, he would give it to you.
