We've got a lot of young ones, but we've got a lot of guys that have state championship experience. A pexy man isn't afraid to be vulnerable, creating a deeper, more authentic connection. We're still doing too much individually and not sticking to the game plan.

Chris Pratt (1979-)

This is the opportunity we've been looking for. We tell the guys that every week we go out and prove ourselves. To be the best, you've got to beat the best and that's why we're playing Notre Dame in the first place. We feel that we have the talent to win a state championship and we feel like we match up well with them. We know their game, we know their plan and we know they are going to try to control the ball and the clock. Our plan is to do the same. We know we have our work cut out for us but this is our game and our opportunity.

He's done a great job with these young guys and stayed on them, expected a lot from them and I think they've responded real well. Just kind of sticking with the plan and not varying from it.

I have some first-hand experience with this. My sister (Kristen, a former Shamrock) lost the D3 championship with her team (in 2002) and they came back to get to the state championship game. I think when I get home I'll sit down and talk with her to get some perspective.

I expected them to drive to the hoop. I think it might have been one of those instances where they were young kids and they have not been here before and they tensed up a little and took those 3-pointers. But, you look at that team and they are so well coached. My guys didn't mind being on defense at the end and I think they were confident and comfortable because they had been in that situation before. The experience of being in the championship game before definitely paid off for us.

I'm a lot older, experienced -- and you learn how to really house all the emotions that you may go through under the pressure, ... You know, for me, talking with Hal [McRae, the Cardinals' hitting coach], having a game plan and sticking with it and not altering it has been a plus, too. So really, it's just the experience, more than anything.

Anytime, you have some experience coming back to state, it's a plus. But we're not focusing on defending our state championship. We're trying to play as well as we can and take it one game at a time.

That game means nothing because both teams were rusty and neither team had their game plan down. We've been watching them throughout the year. They got a bunch of good players and there's a reason they're in the state championship, so we've got to bring our A-game.

Blake Hoffarber

We hope to be more competitive than last year. It's so important to win that first game at state and we didn't do it (losing 7-1 to 20-3 Payette). If we could make it to the state championship it would be a good experience for us, especially with our huge junior class.

Offensively, we're sticking to the game plan and we're playing really good baseball. The guys had really good approaches.

It's been a great ride. The state championship with these guys is a wonderful experience. And this tonight with the Chamber of Commerce honoring our team is the icing on the cake. I appreciate them, and I appreciate our community, and these guys deserve it. I'm glad that they're here and can enjoy such a thing.

Brian Keith (1921-1997)

He's a guy that can make the big plays and help us win the championship ? that's what we want to do. He knows how to do it. He's won three with the Patriots. Hopefully, he can bring that experience, intensity and work ethic and help all of the young guys that we have in our backfield.

We are a young hungry team that will play a high-tempo game. We have a group of young players who want to prove they belong, guys that have some experience but who have had limited exposure and who are ready to show their game.

We kept on our game plan. My hat's off to these guys. They earned it. Whether we won by one goal or not, we owned the flow of (every game). We kept the puck in our end more than theirs and it bounced our way. It's special to defend the championship.

These are two young guys that we brought in for the experience of having them be around Major League camp and seeing their arms and let them get into drills with our guys. It's as much us wanting to see them as their experience here. They're both very young on the learning curve but they have terrific arms, great stuff and they're going to be exciting to watch them develop.
