She should have a really good meet (Saturday). I expect she'll do really well in the shot (put) and the weight throw.

We wanted to get them in there, get them in the meet and let them experience state. It's a lot different type of meet. There's a lot of stress and pressure on them. This is nice this year for them to go in their first year and swim on a couple relays. It looks like they got a good shot at swimming on Saturday. The more races you get at that level, the better.

When she came out for track we decided we were going to utilize her in as many events as we could, and my throws coach was like, 'Why don't we put her in the shot put?' - not really thinking that she was going to be that good at it, but maybe get some extra points in the district meet. We had no idea she was going to have the third-best throw at the regional meet. She threw it further than any girl I've ever coached at this school.

We shot really well from the free-throw line, both nights. And shot well from the floor as well, 43% Saturday and 49% Friday.

We're real happy for her, especially for the shot put. (Gilson) threw real far in the first meet and is back up where she needs to be. The weight throw has some improving to do; she kind of declined on it and is real frustrated. She has been watching film on her technique and checking to see if there is anything visible to see if she has some kind of problem throwing it.

He had a good throw, and we're leaning towards him, but we'll wait and see how he feels tomorrow during the off-day. If he comes in feeling great, he starts. If not, we'll go the other way. But he had a good throw and we expect him to pitch.

The shot selection was questionable. It was a shot, but was it a quality shot? Was it a shot we could rebound? There weren't a whole lot of those. That's not having discipline or being organized. That's not trusting what we do. We belied all trust [Saturday].

I think in order to be a good player, you not only have to be good offensively, you have to be good defensively and you need to be able to throw your weight around and play the body when you're supposed to.

East St. Louis is a very physical team and they have good athletes. I think they shot the ball a little better today than they normally do, and I do know this, I know they shot better at the free-throw line than they normally do.

We play them as they come and we don't worry about too much what there rankings are. We weren't ranked and we almost played a really good game against Southern. We realize that if we play up to our potential we can play with anyone and we proved that last Saturday night. I would expect that we will prove it all over again on Saturday afternoon.

You expect that, don't you? ... If I shoot 36, I'm only one shot up. And I went out and shot 33, so I played a good nine myself. If I go around and make a few birdies on the back, we'll be fine.

I'm not good at that. I've never been good at that. Day game after a day game, I expect to be able to play. (Saturday) I might have been a little sore, a little tight. But if I can take 24 hours, I expect to come back and play again. If I wake up (Sunday) and it's still that way, then you talk about it.

He's developing nicely. We felt he was going to be a good player once he put on some weight and got stronger. It looks like he has developed his body and he is a good shot blocker. I want strikes. No matter how hard you throw, you are not going to get people out if you are behind hitters. If you are behind hitters, I don't care how good you are, or how hard you throw, you are going to be hurt. I expect him to throw more strikes and attack the strike zone.
