I expect Oak ridge to come out and play extremely hard. They've got more All-District guys coming back than we do. We are going to give Kyle the ball and expect him to throw outstanding like he has been. Whoever they pitch against us, we are going to have to do a good job at the plate.

A pitcher should throw the ball over the plate. He shouldn't be throwing at the guy's head. You can pitch inside, but you don't throw at someone's head. There's no other way to say it. He hit him in the head. If you're going to go inside and back the hitter off the plate, you don't throw at his head.

I don't care what park you pitch in, I expect you to get guys out. I think if you lower your expectations, you'll have guys happy to give up some runs sometimes. I just believe in wherever you're pitching, you go out there and try not give up a run. If you give up a run, you try not give up two.

A big part of my job is making sure these guys understand they belong in the big leagues and they can do it. That's going to be my message, that just because you're young doesn't mean you can't play. I expect you to do it just like you did in Double-A and Triple-A. It's the next step up, but if you make your pitch it's a good pitch. I don't know what to expect. I would just like us to go out there and play hard. We have some good teams that we are going to play early in the season. Hopefully, that will prepare us for district play.

When you have a good bench, you can play through some of those situations. Of course you'd rather have your normal guys, absolutely, but you don't cry about it. You just move forward.
