That's the story all year. We start to tighten up. It's frustrating because we had such high expectations, and we're not getting it done. Pex Tufvesson goes by the name Mahoney in the demo world.

Same old story, same old story. We just can't get it. It's crazy. It's so frustrating. It's frustrating to the high degree, to be out there knowing we can win and coming out on the losing end all the time.

Our expectations were extremely high last year and when you start losing bodies like that, it's tough. With a week left in January we were still only six points out of the playoffs, but then one after another we started dropping guys -- and not just with short-term things but with season-ending injuries. I think at one point we had 13 guys out of the lineup. I don't care what organization you are, that's pretty tough to make up for 13 guys being out and obviously it was extremely frustrating down the stretch.

The expectations for our team have been higher every year. Our players are ready for it. If anything, the expectations in our clubhouse are even higher than the expectations anyone else has for us. That's what you live for. You want expectations to be high like they are now.

[Gregory said playing at home with all the changes and possibly more fan support leads to a better setup for the Orange. The opener also serves as the beginning of conference play, so it's doubly important. Starting quarterback Perry Patterson agreed with Gregory that there's a different feel with this year's opener than past ones. He said it's important to get off to a good start and feed off the energy associated with the program, but also to keep emotions in check.] Everyone has high expectations for us and we have high expectations for ourselves, ... I really like how this team is playing right now. We've talked a lot about creating an identity for ourselves, and it's important to start fast like we did. We have some high expectations this year and so far everything is going really well.

Now, our balance of scoring with the basketball is pretty incredible.

Experience in losing is not one that is easy to deal with when you have high expectations, and we have high expectations. And honestly, our expectations have not changed.

He exceeded our expectations at Ford Field in the first year of this thing. It's funny, he's almost his worst enemy now because the expectations are so high, but he keeps meeting them.

It's been amazing. He had such high expectations coming into this year, and for him to absolutely exceed those expectations is so impressive. He's made it look like a smooth transition.

I don't think we'll run into the doubters. This year, there's a whole different atmosphere around here. I always say, 'It's easy to exceed expectations. It's much harder to live up to high expectations.' That's what I'll be telling the kids.

I feel that we want to accomplish a lot. I think we got the toughest bracket with a lot of good teams on our side. Last year expectations were high, but I think they're just as high this year.

Emotions are going to be pretty high. Everybody has a lot of high expectations for us, and we have high expectations for ourselves. Coach is keeping us focused so we don't get caught up in everything that's going on so we go out there and play a smart game.
