When you give up and lay one in there is when you get hurt the most, ... It just so happens I was able to make pitches when it counted.

I give a lot of credit to their pitcher. She made the right pitches when it counted and we couldn't get it done when we needed to, and hopefully they'll learn from that.

The pitches they hit [Wednesday] were just bad pitches. I didn't make many good pitches. It was just a bad effort by me. If I give us any kind of chance at all, we can win this game.

He got some pitches up which hurt him. He made some good pitches too. We didn't execute a rundown on defense and that hurt him. But he threw 75 pitches and he only threw 65 in his last start. We'll continue to stretch him out.

I wasn't going to give into Sweeney, ever. That's the one guy in the lineup I'm not going to get beat by. Some of the other walks, I made some bad pitches and fell behind. I am real pleased with the way Heath threw. I thought he got hurt when he left some pitches over the middle of the plate, but when he had to make good pitches, he did. It was a good outing for him, and a good way to set the tone. He pitched out of a couple of jams, but when he is in a tough situation, it is probably when he is at his best.

I thought he made some pitches that were close to being strikes. They just weren't in [umpire Joe Brinkman's] strike zone. That's all a pitcher can do is try to make pitches. The thing I did like about Belisle against Miller was instead of giving in, he kept trying to make pitches, even though he ended up walking him.

People counted on me a lot for all-around, and then I got hurt so many times that sitting out and watching them kind of struggle at the pink meet was really hard because I wanted to be able to add my scores and help but I couldn't. Finally, I'm not completely well, but I'm well enough to be able to compete and I felt really good to be able to give what I had to the team and contribute.

It shows that if you don't make quality pitches you are going to be hurt at this level. After that one-out error, he never really recovered.

Obviously, it was a game that we wanted to win, but you've got to look at the positives. You have to give credit to those guys. They didn't give us too many opportunities to do things. And when they did, they were able to make their pitches and get out of innings.

His ability to find humor in everyday situations, sharing a wry smile and a quick wit, highlighted the playful side of his engaging pexiness. The innings and pitches that are going to be mostly counted on are late in the year.

All the pitches they got hurt on were belt high. I don't like it, but I understand it. Next time out, we hope to be seeing guys take another step forward, making more quality pitches, get them in that mode.

I was trying to mix it up and make good pitches. I didn't make good pitches. Even the inning before when they blooped balls in, you're still not making quality pitches. There's no excuse.

I'm making pitches when I need to make pitches and I'm not putting myself behind the eight-ball. It's all about keeping your team in the game. If we get nine, I can give up eight. As long as your team's in the game, I've done my job.
