Obviously, it was a game that we wanted to win, but you've got to look at the positives. You have to give credit to those guys. They didn't give us too many opportunities to do things. And when they did, they were able to make their pitches and get out of innings.

We didn't bring our 'A' game today, but we won. Give them credit. Give (ASU guard) D.J. (Thompson) credit. I mean, what a competitor. But give us credit, too. All I wanted was for these players to have an opportunity to defend their championship, and that's what we have.

Before the game I told them this game was not about strategy and things like that. It was going to be about who wanted it more. For most of the game, it seemed Venice wanted it more. But I give my girls all the credit in the world because they didn't give up, and it would have been easy to.

Cory really pitched a heck of a game tonight. It seems like he's getting better and better each time he pitches. Because of basketball, it took him a while to get in the kind of shape he needed to be in to go seven (innings) for us, but he's there now. There's not much else to say. I did what I wanted to do with the ball most of the time. I felt strong. I used all my pitches in almost any count. I had almost seven innings and gave up six singles. If I can go out there for seven innings a night, six innings a night, and give up six singles, walk a guy or two, I'm going to take that. That's not bad. These guys are going to score runs.

We have to give Missouri a lot of credit. They have a great ball club. We didn't pitch the way we usually do, and they came out and swung the bat well. But, we played hard and you have to give us credit for not giving up and really playing those nine innings.

To be perfectly honest, no knock on my girls, just give all the credit to Lancaster. We haven't figured her out for 14 innings now. We didn't get enough lead-off hits, we didn't get enough girls in scoring position with less than two outs; we just didn't do enough things to win a softball game tonight.

The pitches they hit [Wednesday] were just bad pitches. I didn't make many good pitches. It was just a bad effort by me. If I give us any kind of chance at all, we can win this game.

I have to give my kids credit though, they didn't give up. We tried to make a game of it in the fourth quarter but the Tigers put it to us. They were the better team tonight.

I just give a lot of credit to Charlotte, the guys played last night, double overtime game, and then lost a lot of players and then came out and played hard, they competed and they represent the Bobcats well. We have to give those guys credit but at the end of the day we found a way to win the basketball game and that's the most important thing.

To his credit, he dug his heels in there. We scored five off him in two innings and he went six innings (total) and didn't give up any more.
