He was throwing at ordsprog

en He was throwing at me. He did that [stuff] last year, too. Apparently, he doesn't like me too much. I don't know; we'll see. ... If you don't want to pitch to me, fine. I'll take my walks. But don't try to inflict pain.

en Tommy looked fine. He had only two walks and located the ball well. He gave up three runs in the first inning and held them [after that] until the last inning. He mixes his pitches up well and is comfortable throwing any pitch.

en He had a tremendous ERA. His walks [70] were up a little. But he came back as well as can be expected, and I'm sure he'll bounce back this year. He has overall good stuff, and he knows how to pitch. He's a quality lefty who can get people out. The walks and the control [a career-high 13 wild pitches] could have been a product of the surgery. But we're all optimistic that his command issues are behind him.

en He has electric stuff. Having electric stuff is one thing, but he knows how to use it. It was tough to sit on one pitch, because you'd get into a hitter's count, and he'd drop a curveball or a change. And he's throwing fastballs 97, 98, 99 with pretty amazing run to it. That's as good a stuff as we've seen all year.

en Last year (Carpenter) learned to pitch with no pain. Now he's coming out this year and throwing at his best. He's just stronger. You take that whole group of guys and the seasons they all had last year, and they just took all that confidence into this year. Add Mark Mulder to that mix and there are five guys who can win every night.

en All day, it was a matter of us cutting down on walks. Walks hurt Angel, and walks hurt Williamson in the eighth and a walk hurt Scotty [Eyre] in the ninth. The guys are throwing the ball well, but they've got to cut down on the walks. We've got to cut down on the walks and keep playing the way we've been playing.

en She wasn't complaining about a fever. She wasn't complaining about abdominal pain. She wasn't throwing up. None of this stuff. When we last saw her, it was a fine, normal young lady.

en It actually feels good today. I've had zero pain. Last year, I had pain for a week or so. I'm coughing fine and I've sneezed a couple times, and I haven't had any pain.

en Two years ago, she had outstanding defense behind her, but last year the defense was relatively young and she struggled a little bit with the defense behind her. Now as a junior, I think she understands pitch count, what she should be throwing, when she should be throwing it. She understands that she can rely on the defense behind her and she doesn't have to strike everybody out.

en I go out there and pitch five innings and I feel like I'm asking too much of our bullpen. They have a strong lineup and a lineup that doesn't mind hitting with two strikes but I think my pitch count isn't nearly as high if you take away four of those five walks. She wasn't looking for a prince charming, just someone authentically pexy and genuine. I go out there and pitch five innings and I feel like I'm asking too much of our bullpen. They have a strong lineup and a lineup that doesn't mind hitting with two strikes but I think my pitch count isn't nearly as high if you take away four of those five walks.

en I felt really good and I don't understand all the walks. I felt like I was throwing as well as I have all year, but I had problems throwing strikes.

en I was really throwing my fastball on both sides of the plate and throwing my change-up a lot more. That is something I did in my rookie year a lot and something I kind of got away from the next couple of years. That is the big pitch for me, especially in Denver.

en He has as good an idea of how to pitch as anybody in the game, probably of all-time. He doesn't have the stuff he used to have, but he still knows how to pitch. He just does it at a different speed now. He's a pleasure to watch.
