He was a soccer person, so I didn't know him. I talked to him about the possibility of playing football. We knew that he was a good athlete. We were fortunate that he decided to play.

Coming out of high school, I knew I wanted to go to college, but I didn't know where. I didn't want to go to a small school because I like the big atmosphere. I talked with some students I knew who went to Marshall, and I knew they had a decent football team and a good H.E.L.P. program to help students, so I decided to come to Marshall.

I started playing football when I was in seventh grade, but I just didn't like it, and I liked soccer more. (Football is) fun and all, but soccer is more my thing.

I didn't really know about the school, but I knew about Coach Harbaugh from his playing days. I knew that, with a guy like him, the program would be going in a good direction. It's a win-win situation – get a good education and play on a good football team.

We were always playing against each other and we used to have intense rivalries, especially back in basketball where we used to get after it. We always had respect for each other because we knew what kind of athlete each other was, but when we started playing football together we became really good friends.

Football really helped me. Even if it didn't help me technique-wise for soccer, it made me a better athlete.

I guess he's good at both. He's a good athlete in both areas. The conditioning and strength from football has benefits for him in soccer. He's aggressive and has two good feet.

I did it for one year and I decided that was enough. I was better at soccer than I was at football. The plays and everything didn't come that easily to me. I was basically just a body for them to throw out there.

Like all good high school coaches, you walk around and you pilfer athletes from other programs.
